  1. by the way, if you have an #irc network/server based on #ngircd touching on roleplaying games (#ttrpg) or similar interests, and would like to connect, just drop me a dm

we currently have three servers connected to ours (two of which are mine)

  2. working on the setup of my #irc server on the side. now have configured thelounge.wilderland.ovh as a web portal (while @kensanata already has the same running on his server chat.campaignwiki.org/).

there is something really nice and basic about using #ngircd to put together a small network, even if few people actually use it.

if you want to chat about #ttrpg topics (or anything really) just check the links above, or connect to wilderland.ovh on port 6667

    (or campaignwiki.org on 6667/6697)

  3. Especially #ngircd is really easy to set up and works quite well. You can get a server up and running in a few minutes, and connect it to someone else's server if you find someone to do that with.
And if you use it together with, e.g. The Lounge, even pictures and videos start to become an option

  4. ngIRCd 27 is released, a lightweight Internet Relay Chat (IRC) server software. You can find more information on our homepage (ngircd.barton.de), the mailing list post (lists.barton.de/mailman3/hyper) and on the GitHub release page (github.com/ngircd/ngircd/relea) – have fun! #ngircd #ircd #irc #unix #linux #bsd

  5. Today, the first „release candidate“ for the next ngIRCd release – a lightweight Internet Relay Chat (IRC) server software – was published: ngIRCd 27~rc1. You can find more information on our homepage (ngircd.barton.de), the mailing list post (lists.barton.de/mailman3/hyper) and on the GitHub release page (github.com/ngircd/ngircd/relea) – please test and report any issues! #ngircd #ircd #irc

  6. Just posted the following on Twitter/X:

    > Please note that ngIRCd is present in the Fediverse (Mastodon) now, too: social.tchncs.de/@ngircd
At least for now, this account here on Twitter/X will stay but post announcements only; all "interaction" happens on Mastodon.

So for now on this Mastodon account will be the primary micro-blogging platform of ngIRCd. #ngircd

  7. I tried inspircd--I think it's terribly broken from Debian 12 repo(s).

I think I also tried ircd-hybrid, I can't remember why, but I think I shied away from that.

I once again tried and I felt it was a beautiful, simple, painless, and quick experience in 12.

  8. Using the --tunnel option of the #meshtastic #cli command, setting the mode to --ch-shortfast and adjusting the "pong timeout" of #ngircd I can connect #Hexchat to the #IRC server over the mesh and DCC send files to other IRC users.... slowly. --ch-medfast and --ch-longfast seem to work as well, just slower

  10. I just set up an #IRC server using #ngircd the configuration allows for easy connections including SSL connections, or whatever it's called these days. My next concern is to incorporate the services of NETSERV, CHANSERV, etc. I've already installed my candidate packages, namely, #anope and #atheme. I wasn't too sure what to do with the config files in anope, I wasn't sure what to do. I'm still reading the relevant documents, however so far, I seem to be relegated to much speculation, on how to proceed. If there are any IRC gurus out here, that's willing to help me find the path, I'd be ever so grateful. Thank you.

  12. Just installed and configured my first #IRC server. I still don't know how I did it. The hardest part for me, that kept me up for a night at least, was getting SSL support to work. I finally figured it out. I had planned on using #bitlbee, however, a friend recommended, #ngircd and the thing practically configured itself. I think I'm in love again.
  13. If I make rooms invite-only on my IRC server it seems like peopel will constantly disconnect from the room and then can't get back in even though I gave them a ZNC account... what's happening here?
