Well, I did it. I finally left the bird-hell site in the dust (Bite me, Elon!). Deactivated my account today. There is a lot of good info and good people still there but I simply cannot any longer.

I am angry, sad, frustrated, disappointed, confused, frightened . . . and determined that the darkness will not win.

But for now, I grieve.

So let me get this straight, global worforce, huge company, my immediate team is composed of people from 4 continents. Instead of working virtually via MS Teams from my home, you want me to commute to a shitty cube - or 'open floor plan' - where I put on a headset and work virtually with that same remote team... right?? Explain why I would do that?

For #InformationWorkers -#RemoteWork made sense waaay before COVID.

Now 'leadership' (i.e. people that don't do 'real' work) want to pretend that sitting in an office cube (and working remotely) - is somehow better than doing the very same thing from home.

(I made it the ~7 miles home from the dealership to my house without incident. Thanks to @refreshingapathy for riding with me to calm my nervousness about my first time riding on roads.)
P.S. I understand counter-steering better after a few minutes on roads than I did after 11 hours of a rider course in a parking lot.

I’m followed here by 1000 accounts now. A nice milestone on any social network.

A few observations:
- while still a far cry from the 20K+ at the ex-bird, I find this to be a vastly better experience. #nevergoingback
- as elsewhere, the network grows with activity
- verification is real
- the user experience (typing this on the Ivory app) is 🔥
- The “Mastodon police” is largely a myth
