And to say that war has no winners, that violence only leads to more violence, and that everyone's being held by this war and by the occupation, that the only way that we can ever solve this is by a political solution and to share peace to everyone.

It's also a message to the people of Gaza . . . (that) here are people fighting for them and that we are trying to make peace, some of us, and it's also a message to the people in Israel, to show them that refusing is possible, and to raise that message and to raise that voice as loudly as they can.

ll comandante del MITB (ufficio reclutamento) ha disposto il congedo dall'esercito di Shortz e Rubin, dopo che hanno scontato cinque e sei pene detentive, con l'accusa di "cattiva e grave condotta".

La carcerazione è durata davvero tanto, ma ho pensato che al massimo avrei trascorso in carcere sarebbe stato un centinaio di giorni. Ho cercato di non disperare. Il supporto della rete #Mesarvot e il supporto legale di Noa Levy mi hanno aiutato.

Gerlitz ha avviato il processo per ottenere l'esenzione durante il suo anno di servizio, quando ha affrontato un comitato di coscienza che ha respinto la sua richiesta.
"Dopo il secondo periodo di carcerazione, ho chiesto di vedere di nuovo una commissione di coscienza, per appellarmi alla decisione della precedente commissione, ci è voluto molto tempo ma finalmente ho visto la commissione due settimane fa. Non ho superato nemmeno questa commissione. Alla fine ho avuto l'esenzione, ma è stata concessa dal comandante del Meitav, contrariamente alla decisione del comitato", afferma. ⬇4
