"Join us for a Full Moon Hike at World’s End! During this unique hiking experience, we invite you to stay after our gates have closed to enjoy a tranquil evening walk under the light of the moon with a World’s End guide. Enjoy an hour-long hike to the top of Planter’s Hill and back along our century-old cart paths. We will take in views of the setting sun and rising moon as we share in informal discussion about the traditional significance of the month’s moon as well as World’s End history.

In addition, if you listen and look carefully, you may spot wildlife becoming more active at dusk. White tailed deer, red fox, raccoons, #BarredOwls and other woodland animals make their way out into the open fields of World’s End. This is a great opportunity to get fresh air and share the joys of nature."

"Join Ranger Robert for a guided Full Moon Hike at #BartholomewsCobble. Held during each full moon, this 1.5-hour evening adventure follows the tractor path to the top of Hurlburt’s Hill under the light of the moon.

Along the way, participants will experience the Cobble after dark while learning about #NocturnalWildlife and nighttime activity in the area. Guests will stop to listen for #owls and may even hear responses as Ranger Robert demonstrates #OwlCalling techniques during the hike.

This 1.3-mile round-trip hike features approximately 1,000 feet of elevation gain and is considered moderate in difficulty. A headlamp or flashlight is strongly recommended, and hiking poles may be helpful for the climb. Robert will also review #NighttimeHiking safety tips before the group sets out.

Perfect for hikers, wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and anyone looking to experience the beauty of the Cobble beneath the full moon."

"Gather under the full moon with the #TrusteesBostonResilience team for a guided nature journaling session on the ledges at Geneva Avenue Cliffs. Presented by The Trustees with the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s #UrbanWilds Program.

October’s #HuntersMoon is the full moon that follows the Harvest Moon—named for the season when the fields were cleared and game was easier to spot in the open. It reaches full just after midnight, so it’ll be rising bright behind us as we settle in.

Session starts at 4PM, sunset is at 5:30PM, we will wrap up at 6PM!

Journals and pencils provided—bring your own if you prefer. Wear sturdy shoes for rocky ground, bring a headlamp, and something to sit on.

Nature journaling means paying attention on paper—words, sketches, questions, lists, whatever helps you notice. Your guide will offer a few short prompts, with quiet stretches in between. We’ll gather on the puddingstone ledges at Geneva Avenue Cliffs and spend the evening looking out and writing down what we see. No one will see your journal unless you want them to.

When Monday, October 26, 4-5:15PM. The Hunter’s Moon rise in Boston is at midnight. Rain date: October 27.

Cost Free. Journals and pencils provided; bring your own if you prefer. Registration required.

Getting there By transit: Can get there on Red Line, by bus on lines 16 and 17, then a 2 minute walk.

Accessibility Please read this before registering. The site is a rocky ledge with steep, uneven natural-surface paths. No paved paths, no railings, no lighting. Footing is uneven in low light and sturdy shoes are essential. No restrooms on site. If you want to come and aren’t sure about the terrain, email [email protected] before registering—we’d rather work it out with you than have you turn back at the entrance. If this site isn’t a fit, the October 24 painting session at Condor Street covers similar ground on level, paved surface.

Bring Headlamp or flashlight, warm layers, and a blanket or cushion for sitting on stone."

For: Adults and teens (14+). Good for people who already journal and for people who’ve never tried it.
