The marabou "beard" is inspired by the classic steelhead fly heron hackle. I will pinch the barbs and clip the dangling thread when the head cement is dry.

First catch of the season. The water in the Chattahoochee was murky last night. I think the Lake Lanier is turning over? I also did not see any fish feeding on the surface I tied on a #10 (ish?) bright pink jiggy marabous streamer. Ended up finding trout stacked up next to the bank. They were striking my fly as soon as it hit the water. Had a couple of strikes, but it has been too long since I had a nice fish on the line. I only managed to land one brown trout. I was set up to swing wet flies with my OPST shooting head, but this was definitely a bank-shot style catch.

#TallinkSilja started a boycott of #Mondelez (#Marabou) products due to Mondelez continuing business in Russia. Except... the products never disappeared from the ship store shelves, as they had so many in store. Now they're ending the boycott as they say it had no effect.
So basically they kept selling the products as normal and will now refill their stores, meaning the boycott was in fact not a boycott at all.
Finnish companies are so gutless. -

I cooked up these little marabou streamers to swing for trout and smallmouth bass. There is some wool dubbed around the shank behind the marabou to give it volume and a counter-shaded belly. I won't be able to get back up into the mountains until mid October 😔, so they will have to wait.
