Ein prachtvoller Eisvogel (*Alcedo atthis*) präsentiert stolz seinen frisch gefangenen Fisch! Der vollständig schwarze Oberschnabel deutet auf ein Männchen hin. Nach dem Tauchgang wird die Beute betäubt und mit dem Kopf voran verschluckt. Ein fliegender Edelstein unserer Gewässer! 💎

Excellent day at WWT London Wetland Centre yesterday. Local moaned there “wasn’t much about” while I was thrilled by the variety showing well. So what if peewits were the only waders in evidence and while there were many other herons the bittern didn’t show? Familiarity breeds contempt I guess.
Good views of sandmartins going in and out of their holes, a little egret stirring the water to fish, and photographing a kingfisher, were highlights.

Nach dem verregneten #38c3 endlich zurück in der #Leinemasch. Klares Winterlicht knallt auf den Aussichtsturm und direkt davor posiert dieser #Eisvogel.
Der schwarze Hintergrund entsteht übrigens, wenn der Teich so starke Mittagssonne reflektiert, dass die Belichtungsautomatik radikal runter regelt.
