Allerdings hinter Paywall .. @chaospott

  2. What is a trustworthy way to extract the secret key from a QRCode for #MFA that only displays the image and offers no way to access the secret as text? I want to avoid shady browser plugins or commands to extract the secret. I need to extract the secret text since I don't see a way to scan the QRCode directly in my #keypassxc

  3. KeepassXC 2.7.12 is available

The password manager KeePassXC, available for Linux, macOS and Windows, has been released in version 2.7.12. We have already intrduced this useful tool in detail in a comprehensive article: tuxedocomputers.com/en/Passwor

    Information about version 2.7.12: tuxedocomputers.com/en/Keepass

  4. I need a password manager. Needs to work on , , , , , sync between systems.

Work suggests or , any thoughts?

  5. Cool. One remaining flatpak application to run after another borked update.

    It's me, not you #flatpak. I swear.

The only app left standing is #KeyPassXC which has been reliable & stable, for me, for 3+(?) years.

Aside from keeping my password manager current, I just can't be bothered.
    So it goes.

Weiss jemand zufällig was darüber?

  8. As much as I like password manager, it's browser extension is kinda frustrating. It's connection to the password database times out at the most inconvenient moments.

I can't figure out what, if any, settings can be adjusted to prevent a loss of connection to the database.

(Not just a rant. If someone has an actual fix for this, I'm all ears! Thanks.)

  10. @frankel #KeyPassXC 2.7.7 #PassKeys worked for me from home.

There were a few quirks, such as a failed passkeys.guru asking me to touch my security key. I just disabled the "Enable passkeys fallback" option to make that go away only to discover it would not work with the passkey I set up in November, but new (#DDG) emails worked fine, and created new entries.

Also, webauthn.io/ failed to authenticate, but allowed a re-register that overwrote the entry.

    1/2

  11. @frankel I thought it was just me... I tested the beta of #KeyPassXC 2.8.0 #PassKeys implementation on Firefox with the examples from the thread and they all worked for me, so I was surprised to have problems with 2.7.7.

However, I only tested at work where I was reluctant to change my local .kdbx database copy then deal with the indignity of having to copy the changes back to my phone over OneDrive. So we'll see how it goes when I test from home.

    #KeePassDX support is a blocker.

  12. And most everything looks mostly kosher until I want to install my password manager of choice and its fucking grifter central. *sigh*

  13. Really happy that I've been able to move all of my off of Google Authenticator over to

I've never been comfortable having my TOTP tied to my phone & Google. YMMV

  14. @stevewashington Ah. Well, my phone has been on a death spiral for a bit and I realized that supports . So, that was a no-brainer, for me, as I have local control over the password dB along with the recovery codes & so forth.

One of the better UX decisions I am seeing being using companies/sites is them immediately offering a set of recovery codes to use when setting up .

  15. Finally got all of my non-google off of Google Authenticator & set up on

I had been putting it off out of fear that it was going to be painful & cumbersome.

For the websites/apps that I am using, I was pleasantly surprised that most of them seem to have their shit together (e.g. etc.)

I can check one thing off of my todo list this week! Thanks for playing nice with your UI/UX

  16. You know what is great about using a #PasswordManager like #KeyPassXC? When you decide to finally dump creepy #Chrome, you can still auto-fill your usernames and passwords. Yay.

  17. @summeremacs I can't recommend #Strongbox ( strongboxsafe.com/ ) enough. While not directly #FOSS, Strongbox uses the #Keypass database format and is therefore 1:1 compatible with #KeypassXC and other Keypass apps.
For me, any app that doesn't sync the database itself in its lock-in cloud is a definite value-add.

  18. @gme @GoTakeAKnapp @securopean ya I just started using #KeypassXC as well but I have vault in self hosted #NextCloud working well so far.

  19. Those moving from #lastpass should consider getting a password manager which is free and open source, cross platform, allows for self hosting, has 2 factor authentication (preferably supporting a hardware key) and which hasn't been involved in countless breaches over the last decade like #lastpass. A good solution would be #keypass or #keypassxc or derivatives.

  20. Grad #vaultwarden eingerichtet... #passwortmanager
