Is anyone paying for #kagi_search or using the #orionbrowser they're making?
What do you think? I am thinking of trying their 100 search trial, but interested in how paying customers feel about it? I am a usually a #ddg user and have mostly weened myself off of Google.
Does kagi have their own crawler? If not where are their results coming from?

@thibaultmol Very relatable - I also used #Kagi for a while and while #DDG has a site block function, it's not quite the same. I'll just give #Uruky a try tho, thanks! Did you ever check out @MetaGer? It's a similar project where you pay for your searches.

Isn't AI search great? I asked Google why bangs (Qwick search) on #Qwant doesn't work (the way I'm used to it from #DDG )
What would you expect the AI summary to link to? Well, a page which explains why bangs don't work, right?

I don't find DDG nearly as good for web search as I used to. But one cool thing it enables is conveniently searching other services, using "bangs";
For example, if I type "!w" in my search query, it redirects to Wikipedia and their internal search. "!fsd" similarly redirects to the Free Software Directory. They even allow us to search their competitors this way ("!b" for Bing or "!brave"), which is very cool of them.

Was aber seit (ein paar Monaten?) eine echte "ChatGPT-Premium" - Alternative ist #Claude #Haiku (bei #DDG anonym und kostenlos in der Version 3.5).
Ich habe ihn insbesondere die letzten 3 Wochen intensiver mit komplexen Fragestellungen konfrontiert und hatte im *ganz* im Gegensatz zur (für mich deshalb außerhalb von Fiktion und Belletristik deshalb fast wertlosen) #GPT-Labertasche fast *keine*...

I am very frustrated with the DuckDuckGo AI-free version, or with myself, and part of the frustration is I can't figure out which of us is the problem.I love the DDG bookmarking system, and the search tabs system. The AI version, based on my experience, has neither. It is hyper-privatized as a default, and when I turned that off, I still have no tabs, and no bookmarking ability.

Сколько использовал #searXNG, через некоторое время менял сервер и там заново всё настраивал, тк серверы либо не живут долго, либо результаты так себе 😔. Зачем он тогда нужен?.. Всё реже и реже использовал, чаще #DDG. DuckDuckGo хорош тем, что настраиваешь под себя оформление и гоняешь профиль (у меня их два: со светлой темой для дня и с тёмной для вечера/ночи).В #4get вообще смысла пока не вижу. Прикольно было по началу, как и searX когда-то.
Благодаря табличке взял себе основным (по умолчанию) #BraveSearch. Раньше отвергал и не использовал, а сейчас нахожу удобным встроенную нейронку Leo — время экономит, улучшает результаты поиска и избавляет от посещения сомнительных ресурсов.

Brave Search is not there yet, but is not entirely unusable, either.
DuckDuckGo, which uses Bing's results, is far gives far more relevant and accurate results.
Brave gets especially worse with Image search. 🙃
On the other hand, in terms of feature parity, Brave is the leader.
It has all kinds of live data like, Sports (Basketball, Cricket, Football, Murican Football, etc.), Financial data (Stock prices, Indices, Currencies & exchange rates), An AI chatbot which can browse the internet, too, etc.
For now, my default will be DDG, but will use Brave on my secondary browser. Let's see 😉

@frankel #KeyPassXC 2.7.7 #PassKeys worked for me from home.
There were a few quirks, such as a failed https://passkeys.guru asking me to touch my security key. I just disabled the "Enable passkeys fallback" option to make that go away only to discover it would not work with the passkey I set up in November, but new (#DDG) emails worked fine, and created new entries.
Also, https://webauthn.io/ failed to authenticate, but allowed a re-register that overwrote the entry.

#Scielo (https://www.scielo.org) website seems to be down. It is the URL i used to use, and it is the one that is given to me as the first search result in #DDG and Google. Was it moved? Does anyone know what is going on?

¿Que pasa con #Micron en #China? ¿Biden molesto? ¿Micron desenmascara(da)?
Primero #Trump inicia una guerra comercial frontal contra el gigante asiatico bajo el argumento de que quiere volver a "reindustrializar" #USA. Bajo su perspectiva China seria la principal culpable de la desindustrializacion vivida por el pais en los ultimos 30 años.
Con #Biden no solo se quedaron las medidas introducidas por Trump, sino que muy rapidamente fue agregando cada vez mas medidas violatorias de las reglas que ellos mismos habian puesto a traves de la #OMC para garantizar la libre competencia a nivel global. Ahora, los argumentos detras cambiaban, ya no seria por una supuesta reindustrializacion, sino por un tema de #SeguridadNacional, ya que el dragon asiatico habria comenzado a hacer la misma tarea que venia haciendo la #NSA durante decadas: Espiar, recolectar, almacenar, analizar y vigilar a la poblacion de Los Esclavos Unidos.
Argumento sin pruebas, ni asidero, ya que las agencias nor-americanas jamas han mostrado pruebas. Solo se han dedicado a dar comunicados y mostrar "preocupacion" por las actividades militares en el "indo-pacifico", nueva acepcion introducida por la prensa en los ultimos 6 meses en el discurso instalado y solidificado en las portadas.
Lo que llama la atencion, es que Biden ha tomado varias decisiones que apuntan a "prohibir" el acceso a los microchips y a todas las tecnologias que son base para su fabricacion para China, pues serian la piedra angular de toda su industria militar.
Si se han leido algunas de las notas sobre gasto militar de ambos paises (o si lo buscan via #DDG o #StartPage o #eOS) se encontraran con un punto no menor: China ya produce hasta 5 veces mas y a costos hasta 20 veces menores que EEUU tecnologia militar equivalente. O sea ¿que efectos militares reales tienen los microchips? Al parecer muy pocos.
Lo mas raro es que la Agencia Estatal china encargada de controlar la calidad de los productos tecnologicos relacionados con industrias escenciales ha dado su recomendacion que los chips de la empresa Micron son un riesgo de Seguridad (argumento que ya hemos visto de la contraparte americana) lo que me lleva a pensar, que los productos de esa empresa son de inferior calidad y no tienen valor relevante para la industria local, especialmente desde que el bloqueo ha impulsado renovadamente a las empresas locales de la industria. Para Micron, el mercado chino le genera mas de 25% de sus ingresos, pero para China, Micron no es ni el 0,1%
Por ejemplo, SMIC consiguio aumentar sus ventas en mas de 40% desde la salida de los grandes jugadores como TMSC.
Es por demas muy curioso que Biden y otras autoridades de EEUU reaccionen tan ofendidas frente a la expulsion por defecto de la empresa de Microprocesadores Micron, lo que me lleva a pensar que sus otros argumentos son todos infundados y en realidad tienen unicamente como objetivo dañar el desarrollo tecnologico de las industrias chinas.
Con Micron, Intel, TMSC, AMD fuera de juego, Samsung busca evitar las sanciones americanas y a la vez no perder el gigantesco mercado asiatico generando muchas espectativas de lo que en los proximos meses vaya a suceder en esta zona.
En los Esclavos Unidos ya se escuchan voces decir, que en un caso extremo, las #FFAA ya estan avisadas que como primer objetivo sera destruir toda la infraestructura tecnologica de #Taiwan, haciendo indirectas acusaciones de la mas que probable intencion del gigante vecino buscando incluso por la fuerza tomar el control sobre la pequeña isla. -

The short and skinny is that is you use "sign in with Google" on a site, any site, the rest of your privacy settings and choices no longer matter, you've essentially given Google full access to whatever you do on that site. DDG is looking at ways to stop this.
