@drajt I suppose I could stick a #RaspberryPi in the chain. Attach the kb to the #RPi (maybe via a converter, maybe directly to the GPIO pins), then have that pretend to be a USB keyboard talking to the KVM. Because obviously chucking a 64-bit supercomputer that basically comes free with a box of cornflakes (I so love living in the future!) into the mix will fix everything! It would at least be easier for me to debug.

@drajt I used #GNOME years ago and never liked it, I preferred using #LXDE back then, when it was deprecated I switched to #XFCE, then I discovered #KDE when I tried out #OpenSUSE and have never stopped using KDE since then I am pretty happy with it and never had any problem with it outside #Debian
heck even firefox barely works here since some months, the text cursor disappears, the clicks in the browser tabs stop working etc. :(

Went for a #bike ride this morning. On one short single track lane with no passing places there were over a dozen big fat SUVs thundering alone.
Petrol and diesel must be super cheap in France for all those people to be driving all over the middle of no where in their huge cars.
Secondly #SUV satnavs should be set like the ones for large commercial vehicles, they really are too big and fat to fit down narrow rural lanes...

Took the dog for his walk after IT club this afternoon. We had gone about 100 m from home when he looked up at me to say:
"You may be an Englishman, but I'm not a mad dog, can we go home now?"
So I turned around and went back home which he was very much happy to do.
It was about 32°C at IT club, so while it had cooled a little by dog walk o'clock, it was still probably above 25°C and I'm sure the pavement was pretty hot too.

At IDEAL today one poor chap had a PC that wouldn't boot as it couldn't find a boot disk. I took the SSD out and it generated a zillion errors and wouldn't appear under Linux. He couldn't get his external HD to work with his laptop either, it span up, but made a lot of horrible noise and wouldn't mount either...
I do my best but I can't fix head drives...

Lost several hours of work today because company is using #Cisco #Umbrella for secure #DNS but they are banned/unavailable in France, so my PC had no DNS service as it ignores the DHCP provided one... It couldn't update itself as it couldn't phone home to get the instructions to say ignore the secure DNS, and I don't have the authority to change anything locally...
What fun we had fixing that...!
