Lo strano furto avvenuto nella microcar elettrica a Varese (e non è un caso isolato)
Una microcar elettrica - #CitroënAmi - parcheggiata in via Staurenghi, nel centro di #Varese. Qualcuno ha forzato la portiera, senza grave danno, un lavoretto chirurgico, e ha portato via il libretto di circolazione.
Detto così appare un furto strano, poco plausibile. Eppure... È successo a una ragazza varesina, figlia di un noto #professionista, che sulle prime non si è accorta dell'effrazione e nemmeno del libretto asportato. La scoperta è avvenuta al rientro a casa. «Abbiamo ricevuto poi la telefonata dalla #Questura che ci avvertiva del rinvenimento del libretto di circolazione» spiega il genitore della ragazza.Restava da risalire alle ragioni del furto. Le accreditate dalle stesse forze dell'ordine: la microcar come #statussymbol da cui dedurre un'abitazione interessante da svaligiare e poi la speranza - dei ladri - di trovare nell'abitacolo anche le chiavi di casa, così da poter agire subito e agevolmente.
Morale: attenzione a questi fenomeni e mai lasciare chiavi all'interno dei veicoli.

Special rules (France, UK) apply apparently.
Still, a nifty solution that could suit some. -

These are very popular in Spain, with good reason. 75km range and plug in anywhere. Dry, space for shopping, fits through small gaps.
Disadvantage is that they are not 90% of cars on the road. F=m.a

A total lipstick-on-pig scenario. They're still making these in the same factory (not in Europe, BTW) so it's still going to have the same shitty welding and random chassis shapes - a quick YouTube search will show you the horror.
These things start at EIGHT THOUSAND euros. No wonder shitty EU car companies lobby for heavy taxes on Chinese EVs that are actual cars for that money.

Drove past a petrol station thinking “never again”.
Rotary phones, fax machines, spinning hard drives, ICE cars. We’re done.

But if you really need a car, it had better be 100% battery powered. But not a Citroën Ami, please. Awful design, not cheap, eye-wateringly bad build quality (check YouTube). Let's not encourage Citroën to make any more.
Here's one I found on the street this week - they're *that* bad that the owner of this one has simply dumped it at the side of the road. It can't be more than two years old.

@richardknott @xtaran I think that of all the cars mentioned, or from the 2CV era, the one I’d most like to own would be the #CitroënAmi Super, with the flat 4, 1015 cm³ engine.
I read somewhere that this engine was originally designed for the brand new #CitroënGS but they decided it was too small for that car (including driving the hydropneumatique suspension). So to exhaust the supply, they stuck it in a fastback Ami and called it Super. 😂

Compare and contrast with the Chinese Geely Panda Mini. Same price (or cheaper). But, the Panda Mini has:
* Proper doors and windows. That fit.
* Much more power, range, top speed, stability, space and charging speed.
* An infotainment screen
* Back seats
* HatchbackIn every, single, way better than #Stellantis ' offer.

Oh my life. #Stellantis is doing Chinese car companies a MASSIVE favour. The Citroën Ami, FIAT Topolino and Opel Rocks-e - same car, different plastics. Same awful quality.
Just take a look at the welds in this video. Holy smoke! I, hand on heart, could do better with a stick welder. It seems as though the fundamental problem is that they can't make any two chassis anywhere near the same shape or size in their Morocco factory.

@timfoster @thecarfactoids @vitaminsludge anything that small is going to be impossible to manufacture at a much lower price than the 208 with any emissions controls, or proper safety ratings.
The 45 mph #CitroënAmi quadricycle with a range of 75 km (and no safety other than a seatbelt) is €8K.
I rented the €12K #DaciaSandero sh*tbox. It’s horrid in comparison to the €19K Peugeot.
The best hope I’ve seen lately is the #CitroënOli concept.
