#k40 laser cutter maintenance:
1. Cleaned the air outlet from all the gunk
2. Swapped the moldy silicone rubber tubing and cleaned the pump/reservoir from whatever life forms lived in there
3. Cleaned the mirrors... not sure if I will use them again or go for the new ones, they are not exactly great.
4. Fixed the power switch that was welded permanently closed (big switch mode power supply on switched outlet = too high inrush for the poor switchNext steps:
1. fit AA battery instead of coin cells in thermometer
2. Fit new air assist nozzle
3. fit new exhaust ducting and additional exhaust fan
4. Move webcam to inside of lid so #meerk40t can overlay the webcam image on the bed = better placement/material use
5. misc small things
6. Test run! -

👋 #lasercut friends. Where do you buy your acrylic plate? (~A4, to fit in a #k40)
The best I have found so far is https://athaus.eu/en -
I spent some time venting my laser. When I ordered my #xTool #F1Ultra I also ordered a larger exhaust fan for my #Omtech #K40. It's impressive how much better cutting is with the (much) more powerful fan, compared to the 4in inline I was using before.
I need to figure out how to lock the board in the window (to compress the weather stripping) and am thinking screw tabs. Plus a way to compress the window (and the whole board with it) for the top seals.

I built a thing. It protects the wall from key scratches. Mounting holes are hidden behind the board. Laser cut with #k40 #meerk40t and cut to size, oiled #diy #laserengraver #woodworking

I cleaned the #k40 #laser and #lasercut #disenchantment Lucy for #halloween and placed him inside our "new" outdoor light (vintage 1965 lantern with a DIY bracket and wired up for mains supply instead of a petroleum lantern).

Friday is laser day. Continued #k40 #Lasercutter improvement: moved the webcam, istalled a USB isolator (to prevent EMI USB issues, way better now), tensioned the X axis belt so 150mm/s works and made some nice things.

Did some laz0ring today: boxes/drawers to hold all the spices #k40 #Lasercutting #meerk40t

If you are using a #lasercutter with a #K40 controller inside then you might want to check out #K40Whisperer, which is an alternative to the the Laser Draw (#LaserDRW) program that comes with the cheap Chinese #laser #cutters. K40 Whisperer reads SVG and DXF files, interprets the data and sends commands to the K40 controller to move the laser head and control the laser accordingly.
