Working today on a small little gift for a little girl who will be attending our tandoori party. She's crazy about purple jeeps and I had made her a little sign with her name and a purple jeep on it - but wanted to test the kerf of the new P3. WOW the accuracy comparative to our older Glowforge. I forgot to cut a second cut an nnnth within a cut and was able to line up the first cut precisely and make the intricate second cut without doing the whole cut and inner cut over!!! :) #xtool #P3 #Maker

#elegoo #xtool works in principle. Still needing slight size adjust for resin shrinkage sadly. But this should allow 6 metal cards at exact defined positions - making aligned printing easy.

Who, in their right mind, makes a "credit card sized" business card blank (anodised aluminium for engraving) that is not the (albeit annoying) standard of 85.60 mm by 53.98 mm but instead 86x54mm, FFS.

In "production" mode with new xtool P3 and I'm loving it so far. Glowforge was great starter laser, and we've had it for about seven? years now and never had notable issues with it, but was definitely time to upgrade speed and size and software. We calculated we're saving about 50% time doing these custom wedding table place settings - each takes 5 minutes to cut on the P3 and would have taken about 9-10 on the Glowforge. Yes, it's a fancy place setting design for special pals. :) #Maker #xtool

FINALLY have replacement xtool P3 laser - it arrived yesterday. We very much appreciated freight delivery guys who helped us get it to our maker space and onto its stand (access from outside so we didn't have to carry a 368lb package through the house!) and also helped get our defective one into the garage ready for freight pickup/return. BIG tip of course.

I LOVE THIS MACHINE. It's fast. powerful. And time saver for a wedding project we want to finish asap. It's an 80 watt CO2 laser. #xtool

Very busy with Hubby making wedding celebration decorations for the son and new daughter-in-law of long time friends of ours. Having so much fun with it. But we're going to be starting up the faster production line. :) Hopefully our replacement P3 (the first one was defective) does arrive on Wednesday as expected. It's a beast. Weighs about 350lbs on the palette!!!! We hire help to move it to our maker space from drive where the freight company delivers it. #Makerspace #Xtool #P3

Well an update to our xtool P3 that arrived defective yesterday, I have to say that #xtool customer support is exceptional. Genuinely have a good experience with them NOT doing the usual going over things over and over and passing us up a million layers of escalation. We had a few back and forth emails, and today we spoke with a service tech, and replacement machine was approved and is on its way to us now. It will take a while as it is a beast and weighs 240 lbs or so. But excellent service.

I tried to post on Reddit about an email campaign from xTool I felt…lacked the human curation that should have kept the company from sending projects with words like “Fuckers” to family and student inboxes. But Reddit automoderated me. So I’ll share here and hope others may help boost my concerns about xTool curation and Reddit “moderation.” This is a company I’m deeply invested in, and it pains me to see them make bone-headed, undisciplined moves like this. #xTool #laserengraving

Another improvement in #fabacademy 's #electronics production week appears to be the #xtool UV laser. Along with the F1/F2 Ultra, this one seems capable of producing even more usable (and smaller) PCBs.

#x-tool AI-nshitification has fully metastasized. They've reached the point where their firmwares break things, but they have no mechanisms in place to provide files for regression.

Their static documentation says to contact support for previous FWs.

Their chatbot doesn't know where the files are, therefor none of their support people know where the files are because when you do get a human, they're just copy-pasting the same shit the chat bot regurgitates and nothing more.

Where the supposed community of experts are hiding continues to be a mystery, as well.

Anybody found a way to properly import gradients from SVG on object in #xTool crapware?

Both XCS and Studio just blatantly ignore them. Won't even respect plain fill colors so you can't approximate them with "interpolate between paths".

If I force a NOP filter on objects and export to PDF then convert back to SVG, then it finds the bitmaps, but they are wrongly scaled.

Studio now can import PDFs, but just as a page-wide bitmap so it misses the cut shapes.
