The technology industry is male-dominated, with 75% of tech workers being men; there's still a long way to go towards equality. This International Women’s Day is the perfect opportunity to reflect on how equality in the technology industry could be achieved. 👏

Yesterday at an #iwd23 event, a teenager told me that she'd love to work on #Climate be she wasn't a physicist. I told her that her social science + politics interests were even more important than physics.
This interesting piece by @robinsonmeyer very much aligns neatly with some stuff I've been saying and working on for a while...https://heatmap.news/climate/this-is-the-end-of-climate-science

This International Women's Day,
Let’s remember the long history of the fight for gender equality.
But let’s also remember that our country has taken a massive step backward.
Canadian women who wear the hijab or any religious garb are not allowed to work in Quebec’s public service.
The same women who are the backbone of our communities,
Relegated to second class citizenship.
It’s time for change.

From Human Rights Watch:
"Want To Rate Your Government? Just Look at Women’s Rights
How Women Are Treated Is a Bellwether for Authoritarianism"https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/03/08/want-rate-your-government-just-look-womens-rights
"Women’s rights are human rights and, as such, are nonnegotiable.
But there’s been no shortage of examples of egregious violations of women’s rights over the past year."

Want to rate your government? Just look at women’s rights. When we see women’s rights rolled back, it’s a flashing red light. #IWD23 #InternationalWomensDay https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/03/08/want-rate-your-government-just-look-womens-rights

My thoughts on International Womens Day - we will have equity when there are more women tech CEOs and they can wear hoodies when presenting at conferences without being judged. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2023 #IWD23 #EmbraceEquity

CW: From birdsite
This #IWD23 we're sharing quotes from women who have taken part in important research we're doing with @FifeGingerbread.
We're finding evidence that current #ChildMaintenance arrangements are often failing lone mothers and their children.
