(That’s subversion. ...

  9. Always love Horrible Histories on BBC, and yes I know it's for children but I do like it.🙂

Ever wondered how you teach kids about Dick Turpin the vicious British highwayman who killed two people? Here’s more from “Horrible Histories”, with Mathew Baynton’s perfect “Adam and the Ants” skit. The ending of this true tale’s quite amazing too, and I must admit I’m rather taken by Martha Howe-Douglas’s rock lute playing!

Teaching kids history UK style. I guarantee you’ll learn more about Charles the Second in the next few minutes than you ever learned at school.
I just love this stuff, and it’s so brilliantly written I’m not surprised the show got an award.
    Matthew Baynton at his peak!

This is how you teach English history to kids, and possibly even adults. I come across these songs every so often and their cleverness never ceases to amaze me. You can’t beat a bit of Horrible Histories every so often, and today’s lesson is Henry VII in the style of Blockbuster by The Sweet.
Great stuff, and amazingly well written.

I promised a couple, and here’s the second. As catchy a tune as ever, and some great faces on here, including Ben Miller as King John.
The story of the Magna Carta, and how it eventually became enshrined in the constitution of Britain, America and the United Nations.
If you think it all sounds boring, no way, and check this out! You’ll soon be singing along!

You can’t beat a 1950’s Doo-Wop song about the horrors of love and romance in the Stone Age, and I bet you’ll be humming this after hearing it. If only education was like this in my day!

An award that’s overdue and well justified!
What a great show this is (for both kids and adults!) and the number of fab comedians it’s featured is a real eye opener. From Rowan Atkinson to Ben Miller. The songs they sing are so well done, I feel a couple of classic “Horrible History” posts coming on!

  18. I got this book on a family holiday to the Isle Of Wight like...25+ years ago. It was like my bible for a good while. I'm absolutely gutted that it was thrown away when I was a teenager who was far too cool for a Horrible Histories book.

  19. We all remember this #DS9 episode for what it is - cringe and annoying and not very good.
What made me laugh was that I watched it last night after many years of watching Horrible Histories. This fella looks like he's straight out of there, like he's about to start crying about the Oracle asking for too much money 😂

  24. I have a degree in history, but I still learn things watching #HorribleHistories on iPlayer with my kids. This week I leaned that *each* #zeppelin needed 250,000 (a quarter of a million) cow intestines for use as gas bags.

As a result, during #WW1, the German authorities banned the production of sausages, to stop the intestines being used for sausage skins. Being a German soldier in the trenches must have been miserable enough before someone took your sausages away.
