🌳 Lonely, windswept trees existing on the harsh rocky outcrops of the Yorkshire Dales limestones. There is something evocative about these gnarly trees, symbolising nature's resilience and the idea that life always finds a way. The images were captured using a 1970s 35mm camera and Kodak Gold film.

This might sound like a sensible plan from #NorthYorkshire to reduce travel costs and send pupils to the nearest school.. but round here we are close to the border of #Lancashire #Cumbria and #NorthYorkshire so it leads to a ridiculous mess. #SettleCollege currently has many students bussed in from #Ingleton and #Bentham.. but under new #SchoolTransport plans those kids would be sent over to #KirkbyLonsdale in #Cumbria because #QES is fractionally closer. If parents want pupils to go to other schools they will have to pay for transport...but... #QES is already full with no capacity to take all those extra pupils. Don't get me started about the failings of the new #UnitaryAuthority and loss of local knowledge due to the demise of #DistrictCouncils...sigh... https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/news/2024/new-home-school-travel-arrangements-north-yorkshire-approved

Something you might have known about our shop in Ingleton... we've got a cafe above it! 👍
In fact, just got some fresh, up-to-date photos of it, finally. What do you think?

The Ingleton Waterfalls Trail is a popular circular walk in North Yorkshire that takes you past several falls.
We visited about a year ago.

Stepping stone crossing of the River Doe at Beezleys
I wasn't tempted to risk a crossing but was content to watch a dipper hopping across the stones.
The River Doe is quite short, rising near Chapel-le-Dale and becoming the Greta after its confluence with the Twiss at Ingleton.
Soon after these stepping stones the river plunges down a narrow gorge with several waterfalls — which are only veiwable o ...

Finally going through some of my Ingleton Falls shots and this one came out quite nice I thought. Similar to one I've posted before but with some more sunlight rays this time.

Tough light so a black and white edit seemed about the best idea for this waterfall which is part of the Ingleton Waterfall Trail.
Didn't come out too bad I don't think considering how harsh the light was on the day!

One for #geology fans. Here are two #limestone #landscapes which look remarkably similar even though they are of different scale and separated by several hundred kilometres.
The first one is in #Ingleton, #NorthYorkshire.
Ingleton limestone landscapeThe second is #CheddarGorge, #Somerset.

I saw this sign in #Ingleton, #NorthYorkshire. Sometimes, the old ones are the best ones. Really they should also be #OpenAllHours.
