That charred gap was the store in #KirkbyLonsdale where I'd do a lot of my Christmas gift buying. It burned down and some poor sod died in the fire a couple of weeks back. It sold outdoorsy stuff and army surplus with an Aladdin's cave-like vibe.
Gonna go shopping in the town today anyway as other businesses there are suffering and they could do with the trade.
This might sound like a sensible plan from #NorthYorkshire to reduce travel costs and send pupils to the nearest school.. but round here we are close to the border of #Lancashire #Cumbria and #NorthYorkshire so it leads to a ridiculous mess. #SettleCollege currently has many students bussed in from #Ingleton and #Bentham.. but under new #SchoolTransport plans those kids would be sent over to #KirkbyLonsdale in #Cumbria because #QES is fractionally closer. If parents want pupils to go to other schools they will have to pay for transport...but... #QES is already full with no capacity to take all those extra pupils.
