I changed my pod site from my abdomen to my arm. I guess this is what happens when you don’t realize you’re just adjusting for excess adipose tissue.
Today can suck it.

Welp. Lately walking Leeloo has been pulling my BG down pretty hard because I still have IOB when walking time comes. But it’s been landing appropriately and everything is fine.
But today…
Hypoglycemia is not fun. I made it home before it got too bad. BG is coming back up now, but still shaking and sweating.
I bolused to my ratio as typical for dinner…
Our bodies are dumb.

Had a little extra IOB going for tonight’s dog walk and very quickly my BG dropped lower. Half way through the walk I started feeling symptoms.
Hypoglycemia while walking the dog and about 1/4 a mile away is not fun.
I’m all good now. I keep candy on me for stuff like this.

At my check in at the weight loss clinic I asked about my low blood sugar episodes.
Apparently the question is common enough that they had a handout already printed and ready to be handed out.
Huh. Apparently we can chalk it up to crackers. I’ve been eating crackers a lot and lo and behold, eating crackers leads to blood sugar dive bombs in people with little butchered stomach pouches like mine.
Crud. I like crackers and I have a cabinet full of them. Crud.

CW: Diabetes related; talking about last night's scary low blood glucose
I slept through my alarm for about 1hr, before I woke up hiccupping.
I knew right away I was low (weird feeling in my mouth and I was not thinking properly).
The scariest part is that when I looked at my numbers, I had leveled off at just 2.2 mmol/L.
I am thankful for my wife's love and care. She helped me recover by grabbing a juicebox. I was too afraid and foggy to stand.

CW: Medical issues rant, #T1D issues, Diabetes gripe
Having one of those nights. Not sure if I accidentally took an additional dose of long-acting #insulin (I take a split dose= 1/2 in the am, 1/2 in the pm), if I took too much short acting, or if the fact that both are from new vials today.
Either way, #hypoglycemia is an issue tonight. Well, it's always an issue with brittle #T1D, been an issue since I was diagnosed with #Diabetes at age 5- well over 50 years ago.
Hypoglycemia makes me tired- fatigued and sleepy-tired, both. Well, of course- there isn't enough glucose in my bloodstream to keep everything working like it should. My brain wants to nap, but if I try, my body sends warnings via twitchy muscles, feelings of impending doom, and that wonderful "whooshy" feeling of the bed moving as adrenaline floods the body trying to tell me I need to get the fuck up and eat something.
It's going to be a long night- long acting insulin will keep this going for 12 hours or more, short acting for 4-6 hours.
Ugh. 😩
