Having #T2D is a lot like the movie "Speed" - you have to keep moving at a decent clip, because when you stop moving you start dying. So I'll be back to the gym tomorrow, and the day after that...
-
My stomach today isn't liking me! It's very grumbly! I have to admit the feelings are mutual. I'm not a fan of it right now either.
-
I haven't published a new article in a while. Reason: went down a deep rabbit hole and researched about the claim that meat causes diabetes. Looks like I'll be out of it soon.
Spoiler: I found nothing convincing, and opposite claims that meat "fixes" diabetes (remission) seem real.
Until this gets published: did you know that the metabolism simulation on https://butterbei.de can simulate a #t2d metabolism? Simply select it as "profile".

If we meet: pick up a mnemonic to hand over to someone else who can make good use of it (format: business card)
If we don't meet: just tell them. Works without paper mnemonic as well.
(Card is german, but the site is 97% bilingual)

Sometimes the best products come from problems you’re trying to solve for yourself.
Glu Sight started because I wanted a better way to understand my glucose data and the patterns hiding inside it.
Today it’s used by people managing the same challenges I face every day.

As someone with Type 2 diabetes, one thing I've learned:
The numbers matter.
The patterns matter more.
A high reading tells you what happened.
A pattern of highs every Thursday morning tells you where to look.
That's why I built Glu Sight: https://about.glusight.app
-
A lot of #diabetes apps try to track everything.
Glu Sight is built around a simpler idea: log the core data you care about, review patterns, and keep the daily workflow light.

Diabetes tracking app Glu Sight 2.8.1 is out.
Medication tracking refined, with deeper App Intents integration, better Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight support.
-
Glu Sight 2.8.0 is live, and a lot of it is about bringing medications into the same flow as glucose and insulin. I put together a short write-up on what it does and the thinking behind it.

Nothing beats building apps that you use yourself. Since I integrated medication and adherence into Glu Sight, even when I am having an overly busy day, I still get through all my oral medications because of the nudges. 💙

Honestly didn’t expect to feel this good about a screenshot of health data.
97% time in range over the last 2 weeks. For context, the clinical target for diabetes is 70%. So yeah, pretty happy right now.
@glusightapp breaks down the numbers so the patterns finally make sense.
-
Your glucose data has been trying to tell you something.
Glu Sight finally translates it.
-
I built a diabetes management app: everything for today, in one place.
Average glucose, time in range, insulin, and trends, without switching screens.
-
Don’t guess.
Have your glucose readings been in range today?
One tap shows your target range and today’s highs and lows.
-
Glu Sight update:
• insulin reminders now show how late a dose is (Lock Screen / Dynamic Island)

We’ve just submitted a new glusightapp update.
This one focuses on smoothing out everyday friction:
→ More stable onboarding with fewer edge cases
→ No more form resets when the keyboard dismisses
→ Cleaner, more reliable Settings and Support navigationUnder the hood, we’ve also hardened HealthKit sync and first-run reliability.
Rolling out soon.
-
OK, this is cool stuff. This morning, glusightapp pointed something out: I tend to run low more often between 4–6pm.
It’s obvious in hindsight, but seeing it clearly called out changed how I’m planning that part of my day.
That’s the whole point of the insights engine I built in: actionable information I can use right away.

Glu Sight has evolved a lot over the last few releases.
Highlights:
– Glucose trends over 7–90 days (avg, TIR, variability)
– Glucose-only mode if you don’t use insulin, the UI adapts
– Much better Apple Health sync (setup, background updates, gaps)
– Improved onboarding
– German localization 🇩🇪Built by someone using it daily to manage diabetes.

I’ve shipped a new Trends feature in Glu Sight.
Instead of single numbers, it shows how your glucose is actually moving over time, across multiple horizons, with clear direction and deltas.
It’s designed to be understandable at a glance, without needing to be an expert.
-
Glu Sight v2.5.0 is finally out.
This one adds proper trends, new insight cards, and a glucose-first mode where the UI adapts if you don’t use insulin.
If you’re using the app, it’s a meaningful update.
