In the early days, the Free Software community necessarily(?) and grudgingly depended on proprietary software, such as the operating system, the C compiler, the shell, and set out to fix this asap, creating GNU and Linux, working to achieve freedom and autonomy.
It seems that the "Open Source" movement in the late 90s already threw some of that progress away by depending pragmatically on proprietary software and happily buying "technically excellent" hardware that needed non-free firmware.
After some 40 years, now that we finally cut all dependencies to non-free software (and almost! hardware), a surprisingly large part of "our" community runs after yet another "shiny" proprietary service, advocating for the "right" to inject this new dependency and throwing away our autonomy. I'm so puzzled.

Well... I'm not migrating to a BSD soon.
Honestly, I want my next jump be to a microkernel-based OS, written exclusively in memory-safe languages, and with a non-permissive license that doesn't allow big companies to privatize the code and profit from it using monopolist tactics, without contributing back.
Maybe in my next life, I suppose 😝

Is there any page on which Gnome Web actually works? LOL! The silly thing has a "problem displaying page", for even the simplest of sites. Sometimes, it will be displayed, for a moment, before the browser decides to give up and throw the error. Yelp seems a bit better; it's the same Webkit stuff? This is Gnome and orca 51, as in Gnome OS Nightly. There seems to be a problem with the overview's "search", but, that may be operator error. #GNU #Linux #GUI #accessibility #ScreenReaders #ComputerPlay

I mean fuck companies making bucks out of FOSS. I just thing that EVERYONE (with fair reasons to do so) absolutely hated the way things went and how it devolved into WPEngine hate, Automattic hate, and in the end overall pain for everyone using WP. Changing the social contract would have been painful for sure, but #Wordpress and #AGPL would have ended up stronger after that.
#GNU #GPL was once thought of being "too radical", this repeated pattern just shows us it hasn't been enough. #copyleft

#Ubisoft retira el anti-trucos para los jugadores de #GNU con #Linux en #ForHonor. Al parecer es un título competitivo y lo retiran sin explicación lógica. A saber.
Esta noticia me crea cierta incertidumbre. Tengo dos títulos con anti-trucos activado (y funcionando, claro) de Ubisoft. A uno juego bastante (Motorfest) y al otro muy esporádicamente; Riders Republic.
Dudo que lo quiten. Estos títulos no son competitivos. Yo huyo de ese tipo de juegos.
