Did a side by side, the wet processed has those delicate floral notes that geshas are known for, I feel like I'll enjoy it more once my nose isn't stuffy. The dry processed definitely has more body, I might even say better balance, definitely fruity, but fwiw I don't detect fruit loops like they mention on the tasting notes :blobfoxcrylaugh:
Both very enjoyable, I think I like the dry processed better overall! I don't get gesha coffee very often, it's more expensive without being objectively better, just different in a kinda fun way, so it's fun to remind myself every now and then what it's about. Tasting the difference with processing methods is also *super cool*.

Roasting coffee again, this one I'm really excited about: this is a gesha variety from the same crop in Peru, one batch dry (also called natural) processed and the other wet (washed) processed. I tried roasting them about the same (as close to City as I can with my clunky drum roaster), so the main difference will be in how they were processed.
See alt text for my initial take on how well I roasted the two batches. They need to rest and degas before I can brew them and do a side by side tasting.

I went to Boquete, Panama to see if the world-famous Gesha coffee actually lives up to the $30,000-per-bag hype. ☕️🏔️ Also sharing a look inside Agaseke Lodge and the best spots in town.

Learn a bit more about Jesus Galeas, and his Gesha which we're super excited to have on our shelf💚
Imported via our friends at Semilla Coffee
-
Our first December coffee release is here!🌟
Jesus Galeas
Quince | Cherry Compote | Vanilla
#Honduras
#Gesha | NaturalAs you may know, we already have Jesus' Typica on the shelf, and it's a coffee we really love. So naturally we HAD to try his Gesha. We tasted it first when Wilts from Semilla hosted a cupping at our cafe earlier this year. And what can I say, tears of joy have been shed at that cupping table. The taste profile is really unique, elegant and sweet. (1/6)

The #SpecialityCoffee boom in #Osaka is getting out of control. In Chuo ward you can't throw a bag of ethically sourced small-lot #Gesha beans without hitting a #coffee roaster or a specialty coffee shop.
I worry it's unsustainable. Much as people like good coffee there's no way all these places can attract enough traffic to pay the bills.

Was able to smell and cup a glo-ri-ous mixed Gesha + Bourbon lot from Peru by German Carranza today, super clean lime peel oil in dark sugar, very sweet, good sourness to balance it, with a tiny bit of green herbal notes. Mojito in one word 😂.
And all this even though my current cold steals most of my taste and smell — this stuff was intense enough to come through!
Really looking forward to a production roast! -
Just opened the first of four special gesha roasts from Angel’s Cup. They do a limited release each year of 4 different batches from different roasters, and they’re always amazing.
This one is a fruit bomb, with a light touch of floral notes and a thick coating mouthfeel. Amazing.

Today I shall mostly be drinking this and listening to #themountaingoats . The coffee is a #Gesha from Paul Doyle of Mikava in Colombia. His coffee was used to win the most recent World Brewers Cup. #coffee and #music . #supportindiemusic #buyindiemusic

Any #speciality #coffee lovers tooting here? Just brewed a nice super clean washed Gesha, great aromas of citrus oil, jasmine-blossom and mild honeys …. Not too fruity and acidic (as expected), but still complex enough to be truly interesting.
Recipe: 22g/300ml, 88°C, 2:45m, single pour, mostly center pour.
