  1. Just noticed GCore (AS199524) promising "200+ Tbps total filtering capacity" on their DDoS protection service gcore.com/ddos-protection.

Landed there from gcore.com/blog/ddos-6tbps-atta (dated Oct 14, 2025). AISURU botnet in their case as well.

    #DDOS #GCore

  2. #Makai is no longer being served by #GCore #CDN. This was done because it's becoming too unstable (we're getting too many 504s from the CDN itself). I already know that it isn't particularly reliable due to the "connection was lost" dialog appearing too frequently (probably some faulty #WebSockets proxy implementation on their end), but I thought it will just be that. I also never got the supposed Philippines edge they have (I always get connected to either Hong Kong or Singapore which is around 20ms), but that's more of a me problem. :TenshMelt:

So yeah if you're a Makai user reading this post, you're directly connected to the VPS hosting this
#Misskey instance now. Apologies if this means higher latency for you, but I don't see any other way. :AliceBeg: BunnyCDN doesn't support WebSockets, GCore is unreliable, and I refuse to use Cloudflare.

  3. @[email protected] lol just saw your reply now while browsing the Misskey tag in misskey.io

I think that has to do with the
#Gcore #CDN, it seems like its #WebSockets connection is not 100% reliable. I don't mind much though because it doesn't really disrupt functionality. Wish #Misskey had the option to just hide that message like #Sharkey does :cirnoShrug:

  4. We have now moved to #Gcore's #CDN. As you can see auto-updates now work again in #Makai while still being a blazing fast #Misskey, and it's all because of this move to a CDN that supports #WebSockets! :cirno_thumbs_up:

That does mean we are no longer in
#BunnyCDN, which is a shame because bnuuy :fumoreisen: and also they're a lot simpler to use and read their ToS.. :satsuki_sadge:

If you still see something strange in the frontend let me know.

  5. So.. Anyone who uses #GCore's #CDN? Considering moving to it since it's apparently free (and seems to not be a trial like #BunnyCDN is), has #WebSockets support, and has two edges in the #Philippines (one in Manila and one in Davao). Sounds too good to be true tbh. :sagume_think:

  6. @lifeofguenter I olny have experience with @cloudflare, and I think, they are great for Mastodon instances. But I have not done comparisons with other providers. What do you find particularly unique/best about #gcore?
