Monday dawns hazy but clear with a Dismal Dominion late summer day of #HHH and #FUGLY expected. Thunderstorms are possible but unlikely — scattered and ordinary.
Our weather hazard map is clear but temperature and humidity will be such that care is needed working or exercising outside.
Thunderstorms are possible but will likely be the scattered pop-up sort of late summer storms. Severe storms are unlikely but slow moving storms may bring flash flooding.

Ahoy Tea People. Allo, Allo. It's been a while but the weather got wordy with the forecast update.
Drought has broken but the #HHH and #FUGLY are still with us. Dew point is a beastly 25C with 35C mid-afternoon high temperatures. In shade, it’s not bad.
#Rocky #Greyhound is keepin’ on keeping on. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2024. Apparently, his disease is not aggressive as he's still with us 18 months on.
He has periodic difficulty swallowing and will fast for a while. Each round is more muscle loss but he's still getting about. Steps are getting challenging for him.
Rocky has a taste for oatmeal (porridge) with butter and maple syrup. It goes down easy. I had the inspiration to mix in kibble with porridge and that goes down. Hopefully, enough to gain some weight and muscle.
Blood Support for Dogs Chinese herbs go in his water as tea. Two grams to a couple of quarts of water. Looks like Great Dismal Swamp (tannic). Seems to keep his tumors in check.

Saturday looks to be another late summer day with hazy, hot, and humid #FUGLY holding sway. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke favoring conditions are “elevated” as humidity remains at late summer levels.
Afternoon thunderstorms are possible here. In Foggy Bottom to our north, thunderstorms will likely be widespread with some severe ones.
The Bay will be a bit rougher Saturday with typical winds and 2 foot waves.

Excessive rainfall is possible in the Sonoran Desert, in Big Sky, and along the east coast.
Hazardous heat continues in the southwest desert region. #FUGLY holds sway in the yellow areas of the heat map (4).

Dismal Dominion break in the #FUGLY is coming to an end. NWS Blacksburg is foreshadowing coming thunderstorms and rain Sunday overnight into Monday here.
The coming thunderstorms are not expected to be severe but that may change.
Dismal Dominion continues to be in drought. This week’s rains have eased the deficit somewhat but we are not caught up.

The heat remains on though not featured in Monday’s forecasts. Deep South and Great Plains are in the oven Monday.
And the drought remains on although the rain is chipping away at it in the Northeast. Southeast and Deep South and west of the Continental Divide remain in deficit.

Monday’s Nasty or Nice outlook definitely leans to the nasty side of things as the #FUGLY holds sway along a stalled front menacing the Virginia/Carolina border area.
At national scale the much of the country has conditions for thunderstorm development.
Severe storms are possible in the Carolina’s Low Country and the western Great Lakes.
The Gulf Coast tropical miasma is expected to make the grade later today and will be named Bertha.

Dismal Dominion awakes to a dismal gray dawn with 25C heat and 24C dew point. It’s 95 percent humidity but a new level of #FUGLY was reached today. Be prepared to chew each breath as 0700 humidity is truly oppressive.
DW has a urinary tract infection. Snake doctor suggested over the counter AZO for some comfort and ordered up some antibiotics in advance of microbiology results.
Yesterday’s MiraLax does has cleared up DW constipation.
