My wireless mouse frequently double-clicks when I only clicked once. This causes all kinds of problems, such as when dragging windows or trying to close something. As it is on its last legs, I will probably only be able to use this thing for another 10 or 15 years, tops. And yes, it will annoy me, just a little bit, every single day until then.

In my job, I have to deal with bureaucrats who enforce the UK hostile environment, and I deal with fiddly customized WordPress sites hosted by an IT support agency that manages to make it much more difficult than it might already be to manage them.

It is very confusing for me that fighting with the software and support processes around a simple website could ever be as intensely frustrating as confronting the xenophobia and malice of UK government policy towards child refugees. But there you go.

Also, we Buddhists don't do "evil" so that isn't a workable explanation. Terry Gilliam (_Brazil_) was so very very perceptive.

I will now make noodles for dinner as an act of positive revenge. Vajrayāna is all about harnessing the energy in malice and transforming it into compassion and liberation. Some days it really helps to remember that.

Agreed, opening the bloody things is an issue, particularly with newer stuff. Small kitchen appliances of just the last five years or so have gotten much worse - thankfully I haven't had any of those brought to me last month or this month, but I've had them previous to that. The manufacturers, to save money, are eliminating screws holding the cases together, in favour of only using very tight clips molded into the shell pieces. These aren't the usual clips from appliances that have a small number of screws and then you can spudger the clips open.

Those are bad enough, but some have gone with what I've been calling "one-way clips". They're designed specifically so that once they are clicked together, they cannot be separated from the outside of the case. If you had a little guy inside them, there's a way to release them from that side, but it's a real chicken-and-egg situation.

So we can break the case to open it, and maybe fix it - and then can't put it back together, unless you want an ill-fitting and unsightly case wrapped in tape or something to hold it together.

Designed-in unserviceability.

I have watched way too many videos from Slant3D about how to design for 3D printing and now I hate every model available on public 3D model sites.

Everything expects generated supports. Nothing uses rounded corners. Nothing is chamfered. Everything has massive cut outs - as if that's going to save material. 😮‍💨 Holes designed to print on their side?! Tiny bed adhesion surfaces! Gahhhhhh.

I detest customers who assume every interaction is adversarial. Seriously, I just want to make you a happy customer. You don't need to enumerate all the ways I could possibly screw you over. That just makes me wonder what a miserable life you must have to live like that.

So yes, I will bend over backwards to help you close your account. When the reps from that big company you're moving to treat you like just another idiot that's more trouble than they're worth, when you bitch about the 30 minute hold times and how your call is important to them, you will have found your true home.

Meanwhile and I'll keep taking good care of people whose lives don't suck.

The one thing I miss about Twitter is that sometimes I got favourable solutions from corporations that wouldn't answer me through other media, when I posted the problem there.

On the whole, it's better that corporations are not here, but I've tried calling Dynacare every day of the week at every time of their business hours and they always have greater than normal call volumes and after 20 minutes on hold say "we are unable to take your call, please call again later"

I seriously don't understand why people let their dogs attack others then get ultra assmad that the person who got attacked defended themselves in a non lethal manner.

Okay sure, I do understand loving your pets like family (I'm actually looking to adopt a cat or two someday myself) but family don't let family try to maul a neutral aligned passer-by who sometimes has packages for them.

I credit the "#AI revolution" and a culture of #VibeCoding. Product #quality has gone thoroughly downhill as result.

So happy I don't pay for it out of pocket and I wish the organizations I work with would seriously consider transitioning to alternatives.

I want to go to my local writing club, but I don't know if I necessarily have anything to write about today.

And because the alternative I have presented myself is that I'm going to stay home and have a perfectly fine evening here finally getting to clean my house and have dinner, it feels like I have a good alternative, at that.

I'm devaluing it at the moment, however, internally because it isn't "outside". I'm socializing with people on the phone today though and making progress on things that have been bothering me that I haven't had done so I think I need to just take it easy.
