Since a few days now, #Fedora40 and #dnf does not run dracut after installing a kernel. So kernel and stuff end up in /boot, but no initramfs, hence kernel panic at boot-up (it still makes the new kernel the default, meh).
This now happened for the second time, it started with 6.11.11-200.fc40.x86_64 and now happened again with 6.12.4-100.fc40.x86_64. /boot is not full.
Logfiles were not helpful, no obvious errors, and dnf doesn't complain. Manually running dracut helps tho.
Anyone else?

Utilizo #virtualbox #Slack #Proxmox #waterfox #chromium #LogSeq #steam -

@abslutebeginner buenas!

I tried to update #Fedora from #Fedora40 to #Fedora41 using the gui without realizing that I had to run regular updates first, and the update failed. Now the "about" page says it's running fedora 41 but none of the software updated and I can't upgrade anything. 😩
Apparently if you click the bigger more tantalizing update button before you click the smaller less tantalizing update button Fedora will just happily break your computer.

Somehow my Network Manager breaks after startup since one of the latest Updates of #Fedora40, and I have to restart it every time....anybody else experiencing this? Is this just me?

I've been fighting with #Fedora40, #cmake, and #qt5 all day, and am at my wits end.
cmake needs to know the location of the qt5-config.cmake file, but from what I've been able to tell, there is no such file on my computer.
There are several QT5 directories in /usr, but all are completely empty. I'm not even sure if QT5 is actually installed at this point. (Though the packages qt5-qtbase and qt5-qtsvg definitely are.)

@fasnix Ich mag es nicht Distros in einer VM auszuprobieren, weil es immer wieder interessant ist, welche Problem die Installer mit echter Hardware haben.
Also, wenn Du was anderes rumliegen hast, dann teste da drauf.

@fossdd That's exactly the point. A #debian #container #running on a #fedora40 host will have a different kernel (i.e. the fedora's kernel 6.10 in my version vs. 6.1 for Debian).
For the most part it won't matter, but you may get subtle inconsistencies. Just use the same host distribution as the container you want to run and save yourself a world of trouble.

I've always been curious about people who run containers of that are a different distribution than the host. For example running, #postgres in a #debian #bookworm container on a #fedora40 host is surely not the same as running it on a #debian #bookworm host. The kernels are different. It sort of breaks the isolation model of a container doesn't it?

Struggling to get #fedora #fedora40 server to install with root mountpoint on a #BTRFS #RAID1 file system.
Perhaps it's just not allowed? Perhaps grub can't handle it this early?

Oh, come on, Fedora/KDE!!!
You disabled brightness control for the screens again?!
Every time there is an update (so basically every day) it's again a mystery if the brightness slider can be moved or not.
I had this issue come up and later fixed three times already.

Anybody else have problems with the Raspberry Pi Imager tool on Fedora 40?
The screen to customise the settings is too small and only shows the heading tabs, not the fields. if you use the scroll wheel and tab you can just about get to them but it's a pain.

Hey @fedora👋🏻 Are there actually any plans to make #Fedora40 for the #RaspberryPi5 ? I’m definitely interested, especially in a #KDE version 🙌🏻

Anybody else seeing glitches with #firefox on #linux (#wayland & #gnome46 on #fedora40) when using #googlesheets? Like, it flickers rapidly between sheets enough that data entry is not possible.
currently holding auditions for new non-#chrome #browsers: #waterfox, #vivaldi, #epiphany (which I guess is just "web" now?)

Well I tried #Fedora40, #Ubuntu2404 and even #kali and all of them had different power management issues and only lasted like two hours on the battery of this #MacBook.
So I moved back to macOS Sonoma on this unsupported Mac thanks to #OpenCoreLegacyPatcher.
Weird thing - seems like laptop needed some time to index the files, but now it works really well for its age and lasts around 5-6 hours on battery.
Say what you will, but optimization on a #Mac makes a difference.

Hmm, Slack in a Chrome tab on #Fedora 40 won't let me select Window or Screen to share, only a chrome tab.
Anybody know how to fix this?
