Upgraded my main workstation from #Fedora40 to #Fedora42. Smooth experience overall, with just a couple of quirks:
1. Globally installed #Python packages haven't survived the upgrade and had to be re-installed
2. The latest version of #Fedora that #veracrypt publishes a package for is 40. This was the main reason I didn't upgrade to #fedora41. But version 40 got too close to EOL, so I had to learn how to build VeraCrypt from source code.part 1/2

Since a few days now, #Fedora40 and #dnf does not run dracut after installing a kernel. So kernel and stuff end up in /boot, but no initramfs, hence kernel panic at boot-up (it still makes the new kernel the default, meh).
This now happened for the second time, it started with 6.11.11-200.fc40.x86_64 and now happened again with 6.12.4-100.fc40.x86_64. /boot is not full.
Logfiles were not helpful, no obvious errors, and dnf doesn't complain. Manually running dracut helps tho.
Anyone else?

Utilizo #virtualbox #Slack #Proxmox #waterfox #chromium #LogSeq #steam -

@abslutebeginner buenas!

I tried to update #Fedora from #Fedora40 to #Fedora41 using the gui without realizing that I had to run regular updates first, and the update failed. Now the "about" page says it's running fedora 41 but none of the software updated and I can't upgrade anything. 😩
Apparently if you click the bigger more tantalizing update button before you click the smaller less tantalizing update button Fedora will just happily break your computer.

I've been fighting with #Fedora40, #cmake, and #qt5 all day, and am at my wits end.
cmake needs to know the location of the qt5-config.cmake file, but from what I've been able to tell, there is no such file on my computer.
There are several QT5 directories in /usr, but all are completely empty. I'm not even sure if QT5 is actually installed at this point. (Though the packages qt5-qtbase and qt5-qtsvg definitely are.)
