Anyone an idea how to fix/get around this mess?
I have a system that says its Fedora 42 in /etc/os-release
But it has still the fc41 packages installed and tries to use these repos with dnf update.Trying again to run the system upgrade errors out as seen in the second screenshot, and doing a normal dnf update with forcing the releasever variable to 42 fails because of all these conflicting files between the fc41 and fc42 packages 😔

And now updated from #fedora41 to #Fedora43
This one was a little bit tricky -- GUI updated did not work, so I tried start from terminal to debug. And looked like a couple of packages caused some issues so I removed them. After this updated went smoothly.

Chrome and pipewire on Fedora 41 are not happy at the moment.
Looks like it might be triggered by connecting/disconnecting Bluetooth headphones

Hmm, rebooted laptop at the weekend to apply latest updates and now Chrome/Slack can't open the microphone and there is a lot of delay on opening the camera.
No new updates pending

@adamw Thanks, glad to see it reported in the bug tracker. Gotta go with #Fedora41 Workstation for my #LinuxInstallParty. Any chance to get an updated ISO file at some point?

I'm having continuous problems with #Fedora. It started on #Fedora41 with internet problems (couldn't connect to my network neither using wifi or lan). I then tried to install #Fedora42 from liveusb where the installer just froze every time.
I chose to install Fedora 41, and then upgrade to Fedora 42 from the software center. That did work but next day connectivity issues reappeared. I want to switch.

Upgraded my main workstation from #Fedora40 to #Fedora42. Smooth experience overall, with just a couple of quirks:
1. Globally installed #Python packages haven't survived the upgrade and had to be re-installed
2. The latest version of #Fedora that #veracrypt publishes a package for is 40. This was the main reason I didn't upgrade to #fedora41. But version 40 got too close to EOL, so I had to learn how to build VeraCrypt from source code.part 1/2

Question for Fedora users
I'm currently on Fedora 40 but support ends soon and I don't want to jump on 42 this early so is there a way to upgrade to 41 without a clean install now that 42 is the stable release?

After the last `dnf update` and system restart, I keep hearing the sound effect for (un)plugging of a USB drive from time to time. I don't see any other symptoms but I do see a bunch of these on the kernel log:

```ls-usb doesn't help identify what device is that:

I started with Fedora 36 on this computer, then updated to Fedora 37, Fedora 38, Fedora 40, and now Fedora 41.

Linux Mint deinstalliert. Seit gestern läuft Fedora 41 (mit KDE). Gefällt mir(!) schon viel besser!

Okei. Sain asentumisen käyntiin kun laitoin m.2 nvme-levyn linux-LVM moodiin. Sitten piti vaan käynnistää uudestaan kun olisi halunnut alkaa alusta.
Eli nyt on perus-fedora asentajan päässä. Piti kyllä asennella joku eri versio mutta kyllähän se vielä onnistuu tässä.
Wayland-Sway ainakin. Ja voi olla että sorrun Hyprlandiin kun valmiissa doteissa tulee söpöjä taustakuvia mukana.
Kyllä se niin on että halpis läppäri on valmiiksi serriä. #eiikinäenää

Werde ich aber wohl dennoch selber mal testen, mag #kde ja eigentlich. Wayland kann ich halt nicht einschätzen. -
La verdad es que #asahi en un macbook es una delicia de Linux. #fedora41, #plasma6.3... va fino fino fino. Pero lo de siempre, necesitamos mas apps para arm en Linux. Y ya no solo para #asahi, para desarrollo en móviles en general, también. Y para toda la hornada de nuevos ordenadores que parece que vienen con arm, pues también. Hacen falta mas apps en arm para Linux.

This is one time when curiosity needs to take a back seat to practicality.
The meltdown of my #Technitium #DNSTrap running on #Fedora 40 [ https://mastodon.social/@lumiworx/113959044357980220 ] had me scrambling to replace hardware after a failed system upgrade to #Fedora41 left me with a trash heap. My original intention was to investigate the cause and rebuild the original box, but real life tends to rearrange plans... so no investigating for now.
The SSD will be replaced and held for possible study later...

So this Gnome 41 Device Security settings/options in settings are cool but I'm getting this error with kernel Linux 6.12.11-200.fc41.x86_64.
I have seen several posts saying this is a bug with this kernel but I want to make sure there is nothing I can do to remedy this now. #linux #fedora #fedora41 #gnome47 #Thinkpad_T14_Gen3

Experimented yesterday with Fedora’s KDE spin… I was shocked by the level of accessibility, although it wasn’t perfect. My primary issues with it were that I had to use a lot of Orca’s navigation commands to read panels in the systems settings app, and I had major issues with Konsole, the default terminal app. I wasn’t able to read any of the information in that particular apps interface using Orca. I also tried the Fedora workstation edition, which uses Gnome as it’s a desktop environment. Let’s just say that was not worth my time. Had accessibility issues there as well, and surprisingly it was worse than the experience I had with KDE. I know KDE defaults to Wayland, as does Gnome, but KDE’s accessibility implementation seems to be a lot better than what Gnome has under Wayland, with the exceptions I’ve previously mentioned. Incidentally, the X 11 experience with Gnome is actually worse now than it was previously. For example, the terminal app does not even open for me. My journey to #Linux continues. Alas, I have hit a (major) blocker :( Trying to install and run #DaVinciResolve on #Fedora41 fails because of some library changes (zlib). Fiddled around a bit, but no luck yet. It either fails to run or it just doesn´t install. Tried #Lightworks, great performance, but I don´t think it´s my cup of tea. And the #Blender VSE, while heavily improved, is by no means something I could use for every day video editing. Too much is (still ;)) missing.

I got a game that runs natively on Linux, but it does require dotnet 7.0 to run.
Fedora41 only offers me to install 8.0 and 9.0 with DNF, which apparently don't work for the game.
How do I get dotnet 7.0 for Fedora 41? 🤔

I am looking for #help trying to understand #Debian versioning, because I am considering to switch to it from #Fedora, but to be honest I want a bit of the new stuff, and I am too much of a nerd to stay stuck for two years with the same version of a desktop environment.
For example, my main concern is #GNOME. Right now, I am using #GNOME47 on #Fedora41, but if I were to switch to Debian, what would be the most recent GNOME version I could use with it?
As far as I understand, it seems to me that even on Debian Sid the latest GNOME version available is 44…

Es tut mir leid, dass ich mich wiederhole, aber der GNOME-Desktop ist einfach nicht optimal für 4K-Monitore ausgelegt. Ich frage mich, was die Entwickler sich dabei gedacht haben. Es wirkt, als sei entweder der Platz nicht richtig genutzt oder als sei die Umsetzung nicht vollständig durchdacht. Als Endbenutzer finde ich das ziemlich frustrierend.
