#ElConde #DrSleepI recently watched El Conde--very beautifully filmed and a bit of a surprise end, for me wrapped in a satire. #AgustoPinochet
Also watched Dr. Sleep, the "sequel" to The Shining. While the book was much better, the way Mike Flanagan changed things really worked for fans of Kubrick's movie.

Carmen's execution killed my buzz, but illuminating horrors is El Conde's goal. There's something to Hannah Strong's (Little White Lies) critique that Pinochet's evil is lessened by emphasizing the cruel women in his life. But this satire is grotesque & gorgeous. Margot Thatcher's entrance is indelible. Makes you wonder: what other IRL villains would make great vampires?

Não costumo comentar coisas que não gostei, mas este #ElConde, que retrata o Pinochet como vampiro e que seria uma comédia negra, definitivamente não resultou e chega a ser de mau gosto. O único filme do #PabloLarraín que não gostei. Fez me lembrar, e pegando noutro filme que satiriza pessoas problemáticas, o #LookWhosBack, que em comparação ajuda a perceber o que falhou neste.

People tooting about El Conde film, made me think about it (thought the film might have been based on his work, as it had the same dark humour, but turns out it isn't)
