An invasive species of European green crabs, “one of the world’s most harmful marine species,” has been detected in the Salish Sea. They “damage bed sediments, leading to the loss of eelgrass, an essential habitat for Dungeness crab and Pacific salmon.”
The Tulalip Tribes reported “detection of a green crab in the southern Whidbey Basin at Mission Beach” earlier this year.

Good morning Mastodon! Greetings from a beautiful day at the Octopus Islands in awesome #BC! Here's a #drone shot of our rafted boats at anchor. The weather has finally cleared and it looks like a good day for a cruise southbound to Quadra Island.
And I was finally rewarded for my efforts at #crabbing up here with two good sized red rock crabs. I've already cleaned and cooked them and will bring them to this evening cocktail hour.

Well, it looks like I either caught lunch or dinner. Both of these are about a quarter inch larger than the minimum and both male so they're both keepers. Oddly, they were the only crabs on board when I pulled them in; the last few times the trap has been full. #boating #crabbing #BoatLife #SanJuanIslands

I went #crabbing couple weeks ago which turned out to be the most eventful #Sunday morning of my life. We landed on pier one in #Pacifica at 6am. Beautiful moment of the day, the storm was raging so the pier was wonky and the waves clashed on the sidewalks near the pier. Wet mist was slowly rising and covering the pier from both sides. One we unpacked the gear, threw in the rods with bait boxes, and sat down to enjoy the moment one of the rods started suspiciously moving. I’ve picked it 1 🧵

went out to #NetartsBay early yesterday morning, we ended up getting two limits of 24 huge dungeness crabs that were bigger than our crab gauge! 4 traps and 1 ring (other ring’s rope broke on the harness. it was freezing at 30° initially, but it was real nice once the sun came out. Made for good eating! #Oregon #OregonCoast #crabbing #crab

The twins requested to go #crabbing today; we have gear at home to do it, but we weren't there, so we rigged together some stuff to get the job done. As expected, we didn't catch anything, but we made memories and had a delightful time. 🥰
