A sailboat watercolor and oil pastel sketch; new podcast dropped this morning; DMSO
I began a sketch yesterday, but didn't finish it until today (Tuesday's are our busy day around here, picking up groceries and running errands). I'm fairly pleased with it, but always feel I could do better. I think for me, right now, it's getting the sizing correct. For instance, I think I got the line between the water and the sky right, and the size of the sailboat. @sundogplanets Crossing the Pacific on a #sailboat. 1500nm from land. Our nearest neighbours were on the #ISS space station. Truly magical watching the mast doing lazy circles through the milky way. So bright you could read a book by starlight alone. Also saw Auroras in Ny-Alesund research station in Svalbard.

Finally got the boat up on stands, but not before damaging the hull in the process 😭 not just a scratch; a full-on crack in the hull. We won't get getting out on the water this season. Sigh.
Next thing to do- get the giant log we prepped to put under the weighted part of the keel, under it so we aren't depending on those old bottle jacks. I'm just glad we made it this far.
