  1. No night hits quite as hard as a Cascadian dusk where the fog rolls in, the salty mist ruffles your jacket in the wind, and a light shines forth that may as well be from the Flying Dutchman himself.

Taken at Cape Flattery one July, "The Ship at the Edge of the World".

  2. I didn't have wifi yesterday and now I have two days accumulation of Pacific Northwest photos. So hard to choose what to share! Let's start with Cape Flattery. It's on the Makah reservation and I also got to visit the Makah museum in Neah Bay. Really cool exhibits there on our way to a fantastic little walk through the forest to the coast.

  3. Captured on a crisp autumn afternoon, this scene from Cape Flattery, Washington, reveals the raw and rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest’s edge. Jagged cliffs plunge into the deep teal waters below, where waves swirl and crash with ancient rhythm. Moss-covered sea stacks rise like sentinels as towering evergreens line the coast

  4. Cape Flattery – Edge of the Continent View North
    Photography by Wayne Moran

At the edge of the world, where evergreen cliffs plunge into a restless sea, Cape Flattery reveals one of the most awe-inspiring views in all of North America. Captured on a clear autumn day, this image invites you to linger over rugged sea stacks.

  5. Fiery Autumn and the Lone Pine – Cape Flattery, Washington

Perched at the northwesternmost point of the contiguous United States, Cape Flattery is one of Washington's most awe-inspiring natural landmarks. Located on the Makah Reservation within the Cape Flattery Trail and Viewpoint Area, this rugged coastline is part of the greater Olympic Peninsula

  6. Lately I've been feeling the call of Alaska...the closest I've been to it yet was Cape Flattery, where that first summer's night I saw this, "The Ship at the Edge of the World". Maybe I should have followed it north...maybe I still can...

  7. In America, driving northwest til you can drive no more, then hiking til you can hike no more, you reach the edge: where the waves crash against the cliffs, and vessels like "The Ship at the Edge of the World" are as sirens...

  8. Cape Flattery never truly disappoints; even on a less fearsome day such as this, it was still the most intense Pacific Coast spot of all, as I captured a new vantage point I hadn't stepped foot on before, one that made it seem like "The Wood at the Edge of the World".

  9. As the world turns dark, as the wind blows from the realm of the great bear, only the most ghostly of lights remain, calling like sirens to those still caught in the sightline of this, "The Ship at the Edge of the World". My capture from Cape Flattery.

  10. I call this one "The Ship at the Edge of the World", because when you're out on Cape Flattery on a summer's evening, Pacific air blowing in from three sides, and you see a beacon like this, it really feels like it's the Flying Dutchman, waiting at the gates of the beyond...

  12. The light that instantly brought to my mind visions of the Flying Dutchman one summer evening, standing at land's end, the northwesternmost point of the contiguous United States. "The Ship at the Edge of the World".

  13. The trail to Cape Flattery: when you reach the end of that, cloud above, wind aface, waters acrash, it feels like you've reached the final limit of terra firma, and Ὠκεανός is all that lies between you and the edge of the world. Thus I dub this capture "At World's End".

  14. Another couple of post cards for the holiday card project. The landscape is from my own photo from Cape Flattery, WA. The Cyanocitta stelleri is from a random search.

This whole exercise is really helping me adjust and quickly adapt and stop getting stuck in the weeds over minor details. Letting go. Working loosely.
