@philip observes that Something Good is happening to Melbourne's cycling levels. We are on track to see the highest number of cyclists since at least the lockdowns... The number of people riding on St Kilda Road has more than doubled. It goes to show how effective just one relatively small piece of infrastructure can be.

Amanda Burgauer: "There's a lot of data in that one question about safety, equality of girls and boys, and physical activity. And so this is not what you get when you measure GDP. You wouldn't be looking at those qualities at all.... GDP would simply ask: How much did her bike cost."
