I also came across two obstacles today:
The first one is a river crossing with a very sandy overgrown bank. Practically impossible to traverse. Apparently this is part of a mountain bike route and a bicycle route on OSM. I can't imagine this being fun to traverse even by mountain bike. So I edited OSM to make this bit impassable. The second one is a blocked road. I squeezed past the gate and only one of the three workers looked at me irritatedly...

Day 1: Bologna - Imola
↔️ 55.3 km ↗️ 24m
Easy first leg of the trip. Separated bicycle lanes for the first 10km or so leaving Bologna, cool! Too narrow at times and not in the best shape maintenance-wise, but seems to be used by a lot of cyclists of all kinds!
Imola seems to be quite a sleepy unspectacular town, though that could also have to do with the thunderstorms of today. Makes me wonder what it would be like on a Formula 1 race weekend. -

Day 0
More Bologna: The porticoes (arched walkways) remind me of Bern (they are also a UNESCO world heritage). Apparently there is a tram under construction, unfortunately not running yet. Public transport is definitely an area where this city can improve a lot. Also, the city centre is lacking green spaces. There's hardly a tree to be found. Overall, highly recommend it though. But visit when it's cooler...

Day -1
Bologna: Impressive historic centre with big old medieval towers, the usual big churches and the oldest university in the world (the "original" university).

The Dreimühlen Waterfall in the Eifel: easy parking, short walks suitable for families, picnic spots, and longer hikes through the Ahbach Valley. The Kalkeifel cycle route passes nearby—a good stop on any tour through the Vulkaneifel.

Ich glaube, nächstes Jahr muss ich mir nicht nur die #SPEZI sondern auch die #Bespoked in Dresden "antun":

Tasmania Bike Tour - Launceston to Hobart - Notes & Observations
Three friends and I recently flew to Tasmania and embarked on an unsupported, 6 day, 510km ride from the northern city of Launceston, along the east coast, to the state's southern Hobart. We broke the riding up, a little unevenly, across the six days, depending on the accommodation availability. Large stretches of the coast are sparsely populated, so riding between population centres needed to be a factor.
It was a brilliant trip that, with a little tweaking, worked very well and gave us a good look at Tasmania, with some great riding and some fun stops. Below are my notes and observations for my own, future reference and possibly for others planning a similar trip.
Overall, the trip was 7 days:
* Land and set up on day 0
* Then ride days 1-6
* Leave late on day 7I had planned to ride about 590km with 6600m of climbing but, for various reasons, we actually rode 510km and 6100m of elevation.
Accommodation was $2000 between the four of us, sharing rooms and even, on one occasion, beds!
Flights were normal cost and the bikes came in under the 23kg of checked in luggage allowed, so no extra baggage fees.Bikes were packed into bike boxes which can be obtained at the airport (probably) or from local bike shops for free.
Things to consider: (see comments below)
