@[email protected] I’m not hopeful about #Apple opening up #iMessage in any meaningful way. Vendor lock-in is one major strategy to sell their devices & related services.
In the #US, they have a stranglehold of the messaging market like #Blackberry did with #BBM. Outside of the US, Apple doesn’t have this “upper hand”, also why the whole green vs. blue bubble thing is very much a US problem. Other players like #WhatsApp, #WeChat, #Viber, #LINE, #KakaoTalk and more are the biggest players in different markets and all of them are multiplatform #messaging apps.
I’d be surprised if Apple intends to make their cash cow of an app interoperable, making it easier for people to leave their #ecosystem.
