The #AuroraBorealis returned around 10 PM. Visible to the eye, but not nearly as bright as it was earlier. Still dazzling.

I had the opportunity last month to look around the #KingsObservatory in #Richmond.🔭
In 1769 #KingGeorgeIII decided to create a park and construct an #observatory to nurture his interest in #astronomy, in particular to observe the transit of #Venus across the face of the #Sun predicted to occur that same year.
This rare #AstronomicalEvent would permit #astronomers to calculate more accurately the size of the #SolarSystem and provide an estimate of the distance between the #Earth and the Sun.
