A former colleague of mine recently sold his home in Montreal and made “aliyah” by moving to Israel with his wife. Aliyah, a Hebrew word, literally means “rise” or “ascent,” but Jewish people define it as immigrating to Israel.

My former colleague isn’t alone. More and more Jews are leaving Canada for Israel. According to the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem, Canadian aliyah rose a record 51 per cent in 2025 from 2023. They are leaving this country at record rates and many are relocating to the United States, as well.

“I became increasingly disillusioned with the level of security for the Jewish community,” Topas told me from his new home in Israel. “It was extremely frustrating.”

British artist Matthew Collings says his exhibition “Drawings Against Genocide”, depicting Israeli soldiers' assaults of Palestinians, has been cancelled over allegations of anti-Semitism.

The move comes after UK lawmakers protested the London show, which some of its drawings also depit politicians being paid off by Israel and Zionist lobby

This is yet another example of how freedom of speech is being crushed on behalf of the genocidal regime of Israel.

Whoa, just whoa.
Who made the decision for the #US to attack #Iran—the American president, or a foreign country off in the shadows pulling the strings?

It’s understandable why many people think the US/ #Israel war against Iran is a bad idea. Some say it violates the #UN Charter. Others think it is unnecessary for the United States to do this since Iran wasn’t directly threatening the United States, or that even if Iran’s nuclear program was potentially a threat, negotiations could have achieved an equal or better outcome. Those are certainly reasonable views.

But before jumping to conspiracy, remember who actually made the decision to send the US into this war: Donald #Trump. And there’s no question that in his mind, he is one hundred percent certain that this war is necessary to defend the United States.
Claims that #Jews or Israel are somehow pulling the strings and manipulating the US into the Iran war don’t arise in a vacuum. They mirror longstanding patterns of antisemitism, in which Jews are portrayed as wielding hidden power, manipulating governments, and acting with dual loyalties.

Today I decided to spend the day working on something unrelated to antisemtism, or the Fediverse.

A friend and I met in person to work on an completely different project, and for a few hours I didn't think about the existential threat to my life, discrimination, or anything else other than the technical work.

That is, until we went outside to get lunch, where I saw this poster, and several others like it.

It's not "pro" anything. It doesn't say anything about Palestinian rights, or a fight for freedom.

Instead, it's purely anti-"Israel".

I couldn't help but in that moment think about the kind of antisemitic posters that existed in 1930s Germany that my own family must have seen in the lead up to the Holocaust.

But I don't live in Germany. I live in Vancouver, Canada, and here they were.

No one was shocked. No one was offended. No one was angry. No one cared.

This i how the Holocaust happened, through demonization and apathy.
