Just finished my first full playthrough on my new #PCgaming setup. In earlier posts I've talked about how and why I've switched from #PS5 and am using #HeroicGamesLancher with games from #GOG. The game - the 2025 remake of #Amerzone The Explorer's Legacy - played without a hitch. Beautiful game, and I enjoyed it very much :) 🧡 🧡 🧡

Just finished #Amerzone . Recommended!

Enchanting and enthralling, with obvious influence from MYST. Extremely European in its clumsy, white-savior approach to anti-colonialism, but its heart is in the right place.

Couldn't get #Amerzone (1999, not the remaster) working with #Proton. Tried everything and still a buggy experience.

So I "found" the original game installer (I paid for the game on GOG, so I feel this is okay) and installed it in #Windows98, via #DOSBox pure, via #RetroArch. There are 4 cds which the game requires to be present at different times (the first obviously to run the game) so it was just a matter of making an .m3u file for RA to load, pointing at the .cue files.

Works very well!
