  1. Question technique #AppareilPhoto #Objectifs #Reparation

  5. Some new closeup shots with the #oneplus #op6t camera on #postmarketOS! I installed the Snapshot 1440p patch (sudo mrtest add -a 79523) and took these. I did some closeup shots because that's where the camera seems to be focusing without the autofocus driver.

  6. Galaxy S26 Ultra naprawi największe grzechy mobilnej fotografii? Koniec z odblaskami i „żółtą skórą”

    Walka z „duszkami” (Lens Flare)

Samsung zamierza wreszcie to ukrócić.

Naturalne kolory i mniej „cyfrowe” wideo

Kolejne zmiany to już zasługa nowego oprogramowania (One UI 8.5) i przetwarzania obrazu:

    • Korekta odcieni skóry: Samsungi miały tendencję do przesycania zdjęć i nadawania skórze nienaturalnego, żółtego odcienia. Nowy algorytm ma to wykrywać i tonować, by portrety wyglądały naturalniej.
    • Kontrola Autofocusa: użytkownicy dostaną też profesjonalne suwaki do regulacji prędkości i czułości focusa.

  7. A new film camera. Who woulda thunk it?

I was really excited when I heard that Pentax was going to make a new camera model. My Dad’s camera, which hurled me down the film shootin’ rabbit hole that I likely will never be able to crawl out of, is a Pentax so that’s kind of karmically fitting.

Then they announced it was going to be half frame. Huh. Okay, I guess. I have enough trouble getting things to look half decent in a full frame resolution, I can only imagine how shitty my stuff would look at half of the resolution. I was still interested, but a little less interested.

Then I learned that it’s not an autofocusing camera, and it’s also not a manual focusing camera. It’s just a zone focus deal and since it’s not an SLR you don’t see through the lens when you look through the viewfinder, so focusing is literally guesswork. Huh.

Am I still interested? Yes. Am I as interested as I was a few days ago? No.

The YouTube is suddenly riddled with review videos. Today must be the officially sanctioned Pentax Press Day, or whatever they call it in the biz.

Here is one I haven’t watched yet:

Here is another one I haven’t watched yet:

Here is one that I am watching as I type this:

Here is one I have watched:

The Bad Flashes video just said the sale price will be $499 and the on sale date will be June 24th via the Pentax website. $499 is too expensive for me. My interest just dropped to very near zero. Sorry, Charlie. Maybe if the price comes down I will check it out, just to be a part of the party and stuff.

Here’s hoping it’s successful and leads to a new full frame SLR. That would be really cool.

I point it at a bird, dead center and it’s like, “Oh, I bet he wants me to focus on this thing that is not in the dead center. Drrrr”

  12. Autofocus with #libcamera is fun. You are attempting to tune AF to do something, and while doing that you realize that a) AE does not really work, and b) there's memory leak of GPU memory or something, so if you keep playing with focus for too long, system is hosed in a way application restart does not cure. #librem5

  17. @Pavel Machek has rebased his #libcamera AutoFocus experimental branch above mainline v0.7.0 tag during @okias organized 6th #MobileLinux Hackday yesterday (thanks to #SUSE for hosting), and I have built it on my #oneplus6 #Qualcomm #sdm845 phone running my build of 6.19.0-rc4-next-20260106-sdm845-gdc7b19cffd9e kernel and #mobian. Then I have tested it with Pavel’s mcam and, probably the first time ever, with Gnome/Phosh snapshot application with a complete pipewire-libcamera stack. The simple SW AF prototype has been enabled by the addition of - Af: line into /usr/share/libcamera/ipa/simple/uncalibrated.yam. On the occasion, I had the chance to test the result to document an actual event: when the president of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, spoke at the #Ukraine Support meeting in #Prague Old Town Square today. The autofocus algorithm is quite unstable, periodically seeking a sharp image while the view is blurred in between. Same for the uncalibrated colors. But that could/should be solved in the longer perspective, see FOSDEM talk1 and talk2. But in general, the day when we can run at least older devices under real user control is yet closer. It depends now on @EUCommission whether the future is like 1984 or not for new devices. If it insists on Chat Control, which requires eliminating user control over what software runs on the device and supports rhetoric of sideloading for user control and even own builds of application installing, then the governments and corporations controlled botnet would be abused by mighty ones to control society as a whole. Back to today’s photos and the demonstration of goodwill to help the attacked neighborhood country to survive the imperial war. The original 1080p resolution photo with far focus is there and the short distance shot to the paper there. Both were taken by an IMX519 camera connected to MIPI C-phy.
