Saw something on the Gram that reminded me of good old LAN parties: Packing a heavy CRT monitor and a Mini Tower in your car, diving to a friend's place, unload, have a weekend, sleep little, eat badly, still stay skinny, have fun and enjoy the time with friends. Man ... that won't ever come back, no matter how much I want it. I can't even get two people together with old PC hardware (not vintage 8 or 16 bit stuff) and LAN-party on. Let alone a full room of dudes to play bloody Blobby Volley in between CS Aztec or Age of Empires 😅. Or even Hearts, for crying out loud: A card game via LAN? Sure, why the heck not 🤣. We were crazy. But it was awesome. And then drive back in my old VW Polo, packed with all the gear, barely seeing something through the frozen windows during winter time. Wild. Maybe I'll fire up CS on Steam to get a little bit of that ... but I know it won't be the same. Hope you have some great junk food, some lemonade and an great weekend everyone! Cheers! 🫶

Anybody interested? 20 DD 5.25" disks which I just bought sealed, opened them up and sadly, they seem to be partly cloudy (as in: moldy) on the surface. I have tools to clean them, I just don't want to spend the time doing that. So: If you live in Germany, I'll send them your way for 10 EUR including parcel shipping via DHL (which is around 6,19 or so). Just drop me a message.

Love the excitement of everyone involved in this Unix V4 find and the data retrieval. They are all up in the sky, and I completely understand it. And it shows how reliable magnetic media can be if stored well. That is the spirit of what makes vintage computing so fascinating to me. Great that the channel gave this so much air time.

Geez, I'm blushing: Got a shoutout from the AtariNetwork on Youtube in a video about the Jaguar's homebrew scene for my JagJam. But I'm just so happy it got some more people interested for the platform and some great games will be published by Songbird this year (which started their life in 2024's JagJam). Feeling sick, so maybe a good time to dive into Sonic GX on my Amstrad GC4000. I've seen Sonic being spun over to a lot of systems, from Atari 2600 to C64, but none were too convincing. This one, however, is very impressive and holds its own even against the Master System version. It features unique levels, comes with tons of colors, runs pretty fast and has parallax scrolling. Wow! To my German speaking nerds and nerdettes: Es gibt eine Golem-Podcastfolge zum Interton 4000 aus dem Jahr 2024, die ich jetzt nur entdeckt habe, weil es ein kurzes Video zur Konsole gab. Beides kann ich jedenfalls sehr empfehlen, weil gut gemacht und interessant. Die ganze Geschichte über die Konsolenausflüge des deutschen Hörgeräteherstellers Interton wäre sicherlich ein Buch wert, wenn sich noch einige Zeitzeugen finden lassen würden. This was a doorbell camera thingy at one point in time. Now it's "Ding Pong", as Simon Augustin gutted it, inserted one of the Sony portable b/w CRT TV (watchman I believe) and hardwired the most common Pong chip from back in the day into this thing (General Instrument AY-3-8500 if I'm not mistaken). It's a two player device, but you can play alone as well. It's quite special and I like it a lot, and it's pretty unique. The stuff that this guy comes up with ... crazy. He's also one of the few guys who knows the Interton VC4000 inside and out, even working on another new game for it. Anyway, thought you might like the Ding Pong. Cheers!

Got myself a Cruiser joystick for cheap. Funny thing is you can adjust how tight it steers - never saw that before. Heard great things about this, so I'll give it a go sometime and judge for myself. Happy gaming out there!

Decided to get myself the 7800+ after all, as the French original PAL console and the US modded NTSC one I own each have issued I am no longer willing to accept. So will get rid of those, might eventually buy a plain, unmodded NTSC old one again at some point for my GameDrive. But as I own most of the games I want to play on the 7800, I am probably fine with this for quite some time. Really appreciate the attention to detail they spent here. Now can they please release a Jaguar+? Not that I need one, but it would be awesome. Anyway. Off to play some Ninja Golf. Cheers!
