  1. Philips Computer Monitor 80

Last week I further fine-tuned my CRT repair skills by getting a Philips Computer Monitor 80 (BM7522) running again after almost a decade of inactivity. Some backstory: I found an old Commodore 128D in my mother-in-law’s basement with this original monitor. The whole setup worked perfectly for about 20 minutes, then the monitor started failing. The C128 computer is still going strong, and I’ve […]

  2. I could #repair my first #C64. It was mainly a nasty short circuit on the multiplexed address lines on the ram and the VIC-II. I still have to sort out a few details (a CIA misbehaving), but most of the computer is now working and the BASIC V2 prompt shows a blinking cursor. I have a #C128D since 1994, but this is my very first real C64 😍Many thanks to @root42 and @janbeta who patiently gave many key advices. #retrocompuing

  7. Neu bei VSG: Dies ist meine Geschichte wie ich zum Computer kam. Es muss schon sehr lange her sein, als ich mich für elektronische Spielereien interessierte, ich sag mal so gegen 1972.

  8. Often I read posts of people snapping up very rare games or other items for bargain prices. This rarely happens to me... ever.

I have been searching for one particular book for years now and saw it several months ago on ebay for around £140. I nearly cracked and bought it on a few occasions but could never justify it to myself.

  9. Just watched this video by @amigalove and man, did it bring back memories! Back in 1989/90 I had a #C128D with a 1750 REU and was an avid #GEOS128 user. For about 6 issues, I was even creating a newsletter for a club I was a member of back then with GeoPublish 128, a 24 pin dot matrix printer and a Xerox machine. Good times! In 1991, I could finally afford an #A2000 :ablobcatheart:

  10. Writing a d81 disk image to a real 1581 connected to a #C64 via ethernet (RRNet Mk3) sure takes a while... Still, good way to do it. Looking forward to trying the new VDC Mode Mania v1.2 demo later tonight on my #C128D :-)

  11. New instance, somewhat new #Introduction:

I'm Franco-American currently living in Orange County, California.

My first home computer was a #Commodore PET. Then a 3032, a #C64, a #C128, a #C128D and then the best computer that was ever made: an #Amiga 1000. I share my bday with it.

I learned everything I know about programming in the 80s as an original member of the european #Amiga #DemoScene. Didn’t use to write #demos back then though 😈.

  12. Looks like a #Commodore heaven. May I introduce from right to the left: #PET4008, #VC20, #Plus/4, #C16, #C64, #C128D, #Amiga500 and #Amiga2000.

FYI: Did you know the VIC20 was sold in Germany under the name VC20. Because the pronounciation of VIC in Germany means the English word f*ck in German. Nobody dared.

  17. Because I dug out the old #Commodore #C128D for testing. I'm just playing around with the CP/M system disk in the emulator. And it's so much slower as a #MBC2 or the #Zeta2.

  22. Someone here who want's to exchange a running #BBCMicro in good condition? It's a shame that we haven't one of the most used GB school computers in our exhibition. I can offer a running, original packaged - ok, have to test it - #Commodore #C128D.
Now it's the Chrismas after the Christmas I was hoping to get one, but that's seems to be life.
Contact me via PM, maybe we'll find together.

  23. I think I found my #c128d error that haunts me for more than a year now!
It looks like the bloody #MOS8502 is faulty when it gets warm! Or one of the solder points in the near vicinity is bad.
Anyway, I can remove the fault with some ice spray on the 8502!
Why would that not happen in #C64 mode? Oo

  24. Six years after I got my C64 in 1989, and well into the PC age, I had acquired my 8 bit-dream machine: a Commodore 128D, recounted in another old blog post originally written for Google+ that just feels right here too! And I still own both of the C128Ds in the article and they still work today.

  26. @amigalove @duhproject

And yes. I have a #C128 and two #C128D and a few #C64. And the vertical bars are visible on all of my 128s and barely on the C64s.

  27. I lost a plastic #c128D auction by one Euro :-(
