They say "retro is cool," but let's be honest, emulating a Pentium II on a Mac Mini is like trying to fit a VHS tape into a Blu-ray player. 😂 Apparently, #86Box is on a mission to make us all nostalgic for the days of dial-up and floppy disks, one 10-part saga at a time. 🚀 #CuttingEdgeFrom1999

Want to see the Atari Jaguar showing off some impressive driving scenes of what could become a port of NfS for it? Well, look for yourself. Even as the big city goes by, the frame rate does not ditch significantly. Awesome stuff, now I really hope this port will get finished. Look for yourselves:

As you might know, I really like the Atari Jaguar. It's a console with a ton of potential and not as bad a library of games as some Youtubers might want you to believe. Look at what talented coders have done at JagJam since 2024! And this year seems to be one for 3D fans on the Jag: Someone ported NFS from 3DO over to Jaguar to prove a point, and the most recent version is slow, yes, but seems almost playable. Then another person used Claude Code to get Tomb Raider (Open Lara) working on the Jag. Well, kind of: It's really early and really slow, but again: draw distance and resolution are impressive. And then there is Jagracer from the same guy who ported NFS for fun. It's its own thing and could surely use some more tweaking, but it's the most advanced game of the bunch. And none of them are yet part of JagJam 2026, where 13 people are registered to hopefully submit other awesome game ideas until the end of October. So maybe this will become the year of the Jaguar, who knows? Cheers!

Peacekeeper Command-O is a Magnavox Odyssey homebrew that I released for free in 2018.
This is a demake of Missile Command, which is my first memory of a video game.
You stick little cities to your television screen and then one player attacks and the other defends.

Looking for the CENSORED (!!!!) Shareware DOS vesion of Wolfenstein 3D. It was what I played back in the day here in Germany and I can't seem to find that one. Maybe anyone here can help out or point me to the right direction?
Edit to clarify: I played a version that had the nasty crosses, whereever they appeared, replaced with plain Xes in all the graphics.

Went to the Game museum in Vienna to see some of the stuff I already have at home, but also a lot of things I don't (and never will). Good times, and they had a Jaguar on display, so bonus points for that, although if it had been set up to play Tempest 2000 or Wolf 3D or Doom, that would have been awesome!
Edit: Had the Portfolio labeled as Lynx in the description - ooopsiedaisy, I know better of course, my brain was out on vacation as well probably 🤣

I decided to set up a vintage gaming console that's turning 20 this year! It had just been collecting dust in my storage, but for today's RetroGaming Day, I felt like it was appropriate to dig it back out and see if it still works!
And it did! After some touching up (and de-dusting, most importantly) it actually spun up after all these years!
I played some of its – now admittedly quite archaic – games, and contrary to what I expected from gaming hardware this simplistic, it was actually kind of fun!
It's crazy the length people had to go to back in the day just to play a video game. It uses digital video disks (DVDs) to store software. I was only a toddler at the time, so I hardly remember these times…
;)
Happy feeling old day...#Gaming #Games #PlayStation #PlayStation3 #PS3 #RetroGaming #VintageGaming #VintageComputers

It would be amazing for this documentary about SCUMM (the engine behind the amazing point & click adventure games like the original Secret of Monkey Island series, Sam & Max, etc) come to pass. They already have many luminaries onboard and just added three more major figures to the cast.

When people say they have "a complete set of ROMs" for a SNES, they are not talking about secret Metroid 2D games that were “too controversial" for players in 1992.
/me says “Why yes, I do have the European beta ROM of The Blues Brothers for SNES.”
