  1. My first #cyberdeck, #3dprint, #raspberry Pi 5.

    In theory everything fits perfectly.

In practice though, not so much... had to reroute the switch to the outside (the PETG expanded and sagged more than I expected) and as two flaps broke off (my mistake in #FreeCAD, they had 0.1mm distance from where they should have attached), had to close the case with tape instead.

    But otherwise it works...
  2. Totally loving this Alien(s)-inspired #cyberdeck, the Typeframe PS-85: typeframe.net

The builder Jeff has posted a bill-of-materials and build guide at the link above.

There's an article about it on the Raspberry Pi site: raspberrypi.com/news/typeframe

  4. A couple more glamour shots of my #3dprinted #cyberdeck . A few features I haven’t talked about:

    1) The keyboard can be used with the deck or hooked up to a PC and used as a normal keyboard.

    2) the left usb-c port is wired to GPIO and can be used for modules via I2C or UART (it also has magnets for attaching larger modules more securely

    3) the screw holes go all the way through the case for more permanent addition of hardware (for example handles, battery expansion etc)

  8. I finally wrapped up my custom mini #cyberdeck build last night. Uses a #waveshare ESP32-S3 touchscreen and a mini "OS" built using #circuitpython I wrote a blog post about the build (including links to download the #3dprint models and code) andywarburton.co.uk/post/gr3ml

  11. Oof. Looks like Pilet just switched to a compute module from a pi5 and people are not happy... I'm confused why they originally thought a pi5 would work for a project like this?

    I also thought it contained a compute module not a pi5. :///

  14. Been a while! Lately I’ve been hacking on this little #cyberdeck project. It’s very much in prototype mode at the moment but I’ve built a mini #circuitpython powered launcher that loads “apps” from the SD card and can be navigated by touch or keyboard navigation. The keyboard is hand-wired with tactile switches (to keep things compact) through a Pi Pico that talks to the main brain (a Waveshare ESP32-S3 2.8” touch screen) over UART and can be switched to work as a standalone keeb too.

  19. #Cyberdeck Concept

Haven’t built this yet! Just a rendering/concept right now. But it got us excited about maybe making one for real!

Anyone out there tried making something like this?

  20. Tiktok has discovered Raspberry Pi based DIY cyberdecks. It's amazing and very inspiring, they are not only fusing it with whimsical and mermaid design styles, but also with tech politics of anti-surveillance, off-grid knowledge mirrors (incl. Wikipedia) and retro gaming.

  21. This is a nice piece of tech. Almost a consumer-friendly look. maybe when the legit version comes out I'll buy. In the meantime, if anyone has a hot tip on a cyberdeck that has a microphone and speaker built-in I'd appreciate it. Thanks #Cyberdeck #GeekCulture youtube.com/watch?v=xOT5Bj9ugxw
