Great now my #Kitchen #faucet needs to be replaced, my kitchen sink faucet has had a slow leak for longer than I can remember, but I was always able to find a way to shut it off, the last week not so lucky, have to keep a dish rag wrapped around it, its just enough to make the rag damp in a day, it has been slowly developing an internal leak, and it is now progressively worse, there goes another $125 I don't actually have, and since I don't have a tub, and I drink tap water all day long I really to to fix this, not to mention I have no idea how I will actually replace it, and before anyone asks, yes it is my responsibility to either replace and repair it myself or pay to have it done, that is no happening paying to replace it myself is more than I can afford, no way to pay someone, not looking forward to it but it has to be done, I have a new one ordered sometime this week it will be here, im not looking forward to changing it, the space I have to work in is could barely hold a dell inspiron 530, actually I don't think it would fit at all, I have to take off the garbage disposal first, and then unhook the water lines and then play find the nut that holds the faucet to the sink, all one handed and without any visual ability to see, I cook and clean using it, I need it, still have no clue what I will actually do for #food this month, O yea the hell keeps getting deeper for this #disabled man existing in #poverty;

Our five year old "commercial technology" washing machine stopped working today. Thanks to DYI repair videos, I was able to run a diagnostic to see the error code and identify the clutch slider as the culprit (of course the manufacturer's website was of no use here).
I could have ordered a replacement part online for about 50 $CAD but the part design is so bad that I preferred repairing the broken part instead.
The steel ring around the slider is held with only six small plastic "pegs" about 3mm in diameter. Those pegs broke off from the repeated actuation of the clutch during normal operation (electromagnet exerting an axial force on the steel ring). I drilled small holes in the plastic slider in which I self-tapped 3x4mm set screws (aka grub screws). I slid the steel ring back on and backed out the screws so they would engage in the ring.

This is my current table display, the background was fancy wrapping paper I had and liked. I want to redo it, I have felt, velvet and several other fabrics I can use. Obviously I did wear gloves and my work glasses in the case of the ✨forbidden slushy ✨ or any other liquid in the battery splashes/explodes in my face.
The new battery is ordered and I guess I will see what happens when I put it in. For fun I asked various LLMs what the consensus on the internet is for which battery to get, what to watch out for etc. Most of it was just lies and lots of "Oh yes, you are absolutely right and I shouldn't have said that".

It took me a solid hour to get the battery cable off of the lead terminal. First I had to get all that tasty looking powder off of the batter and then try to pry apart the connector.
This is definitely not how it's supposed to be done and I am sorry for all mechanics seeing this :DNow apparently everyone on the internet, in good old internet fashion, is disagreeing with each other about which battery to use and whether you need to have it configured by a mechanic ($$$).

Ugh. My car wouldn't start today. Never happened before and I used it only a couple days before that so I was rather confused.
From what I could tell it was a battery issue.
I opened the hood and was greeted by this seeping out of the battery. It's basically the forbidden blue sluhie! Or something Walter White would need. -

Я тут же начал прикидывать по цене возможные варианты. RPI2040 конечно же очень дешево, но посмотрев пару обзоров на Picodexed на YouTube, меня не привлекла простенькая синтезаторная составляющая. Понятно, что это полная эмуляция движка Yamaha DX7, но слишком уж звук невзрачный и простой. После просмотра вариантов эмуляторов синтезаторов на RPI на YouTube меня больше заинтересовали проекты MiniDexed , MT32-pi и Mini-JV880 .

Всем привет. Уже теперь в прошлом году в комментариях к очередной статье про безопасность аккаунтов и TOTP здесь, на Хабре, я спрашивал – а почему не очень распространены «hardware TOTP». С одной стороны, оно и понятно – зачем нужно какое-то еще одно отдельное устройство, если его вполне заменит любой смартфон, который и так всегда при себе. И этот подход, безусловно, имеет приоритетное право на жизнь. Но, с другой стороны, в той самой статье, с которой все и началось, как раз и обсуждался среди прочего «режим паранойи», когда пользователь не доверяет ни одному подходящему в данном случае устройству и хотел бы иметь свое устройство, которое будет показывать те самые TOTP коды, но работать будет автономно и не будет зависеть от конкретного приложения и конкретной ОС смартфона (которые, теоретически, могут сливать данные куда-либо). Резюмируя – нужна некая «коробочка с экранчиком», которая умеет рассчитывать TOTP и отображать его.

I hoard styrofoam like a madwoman because it cannot be recycled and I only learned recently that it can be dissolved in acetone and remolded!
