#FollowThis is an interesting organization. They buy stocks collectively from oil giants on behalf of concerned citizens. This way, they get a place at the shareholders meetings and are able to submit resolutions to align the companies' targets with the Paris Climate Agreement.
It's easy to buy a share each from #Shell, #TotalEnergies, #BP, #Chevron and #ExxonMobil and have them represent you. And if you ever need the money back, you can sell it again. Sounds neat, huh!

This article shows why it's important that non-profits get involved in developing #AlternativeProtein solutions.
It’s a problem that alt proteins don’t compete on a level playing field. The factory farming industry has stacked the deck. The goal however isn’t just to level the playing field, but to shift the advantage in the other direction.
Compare it to renewable energy. Early investments in solar would just not have made money, but now it’s a thriving industry.

Van de week de 3D geprinte plantaardige steak op van #Loetje. Mijn oordeel over deze New Meat 0.0? Best #VeganMeat ever! De textuur is echt overtuigend. De smaak komt meer van de jus dan van de steak, maar dat geldt bij Loetje ook voor de vlees steaks. Samen is dit echt lekker (als je niet vies bent van vet en zout)!

i am not saying you have these beliefs. since you yourself are vegan, you can probably see these problems too.
one problem is this: organisations, who want more money, have an incentive to overstate the effect of donations (to receive more of them) and an incentive to understate the effect of personal change (so as to not alienate potential donors who are hostile towards change).
therefore, you have organisations like #farmkind who tell people to NOT go vegan but just give them money, because it is scientifically proven to be more effective to do this instead.
organisations like #DanishVegetarianSociety have joined this campaign, and they are hosting meat-eating competitions — for the animals. they justify this approach with research and statistics.
i have attached an ad for their #CompassionCalculator app.
what i suggest is this: when people argue something that sounds absurd, then i don't care and i don't think others should care whatever "research" is used to justify this. the alternative to acting according to this "science" is not to act randomly.
instead i suggest listening to your own heart and those around you who make sensible arguments.
if you like, i can share one or two absurd arguments that effective altruists have made to me.

De overheid heeft besloten de #suikertaks op bijna alle melksoorten toe te passen per januari 2024. De enige manier om hier als melkfabrikant onderuit te komen is door koeien te misbruiken: alleen melk van koeien (inclusief chocomel!) vormt een uitzondering.
Dat dit helemaal nergens op slaat hoef ik jullie natuurlijk niet uit te leggen. Willen jullie dan ook deze petitie tekenen om politieke besluitvormers te lobbyen?

Good news! 🌱 🙌 The FDA will allow for calling #PlantBasedMilk milk. Turns out that consumers are not misled by the use of the term “milk” for plant-based milk, who would have thought?!
The FDA recommends to add a voluntary nutrient comparison on the packaging such that the consumer can make informed decisions.
Shoutout to #ProVegInternational for raising awareness to this issue.

Een 18-jarige kan in Nederland zomaar de helft minder betaald krijgen dan een 21-jarige, voor exact hetzelfde werk. Het minimumloon is € 13,68 per uur, maar een 18-jarige krijgt maar € 6,84 betaald, ver onder het sociaal minimum. Nergens anders in Europa krijgen jonge werknemers zo slecht betaald als in Nederland.
Teken deze petitie om Eddy van Hijum (minister van sociale zaken) een zetje te geven om hier iets aan te doen!
