Installing Harvester right now. The installer could use a few more progress bars as it often looks like it is just stuck (while it isn't).
Also they installer really doesn't have any customisation options for the partition layout. Including the lack of full disk encryption.

Anyone here already played with #OpenSuse #Harvester and maybe even managed to get a full disk encryption working (even though it officially isn't available)?
Also anyone any personal experiences how it does in comparison to Incus, Proxmox, or even VMware VCF?

openSUSE Tumbleweed to enable Wayland by default on KDE Plasma
In my opinion, the long overdue conversation to make Wayland the default video server on KDE Plasma in Tumbleweed has finally happened. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of support for it, but I'm confident this will happen soon. I have included excerpts from the mailing list discu...

Managed to use the openSUSE build service (obs) to build a first project (a container) https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:jornfranke. I followed this tutorial: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_Tutorial (it is about packages, but looking at existing examples I managed to build a container).
You can use it to build own distributions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Build_Service
An impressive and very interesting service. Glad that I learned it a bit and happy to dive deeper - a very useful skill.

If you are running #opensuse on a #framework12 and wonder why the kernel is tainted....
Remove the framework-laptop-kmp-default package. Doesn't make sense on the 12. -

There's a bug in #OpenSUSE Tumbleweed that is kind of wrecking GNOME on the #AeonDesktop.
Luckily the BTRFS setup enables me to boot from an old(er) snapshot and keep on working. I'm running on the 11/14 image until this gets fixed in Tumbleweed and flows to #aeon.
This is the first bug in Aeon to affect me in a couple of months. I'm looking for a quick fix, which should come in the form of a newer GTK4 package.

RE: https://fosstodon.org/@opensuse/115526151634297376
This is probably the most watched conference talk video of me ever! It's from one of my sessions presented at the OpenSUSE Conference earlier this year in Nuremberg, where I introduced Agama, the new Linux installer available in the just released @openSUSE Leap16.
If you haven't yet seen it, check it out at: https://youtu.be/LXJbOy-pXMc

I forced some of my boxes to only use SSH post-quantum algorithms like mlkem768x25519-sha256. I have #OpenSUSE Tumbleweed on one of my desktops. It turns out that these are not enabled by default: https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1253025
First, you have to make complicated adjustments to two files:
/etc/crypto-policies/config
/etc/crypto-policies/policies/modules/SSH-QUANTUM.pmodWhat kind of nonsense is this? #Unsecure by default?

After I blew up my old #OpenSuse system on my laptop in many ways I reinstalled it, this time with Leap 16.0 to get more stability.
And, well, I absolutely bloody hate that YaST is gone, I already missed it during setup. Now I once again need to look up how the hell you set things up with /etc/default/grub instead of being done within seconds. Also what's up with KDE using X11 by default? I wondered where half the options were and why fractional scaling was dysfunctional.
#Linux #OpenSuseLeap -
#openSUSE #leap 16 - Not a single update since the upgrade to 16 via opensuse-migration-tool. I don't receive any updates via #discover or #zypper up (after zypper ref). Only updates for flatpaks are displayed in discover.
repo-oss(16.0) and repo-openh264(16.0) are activated. No update within a month. This looks a little bit strange!
PS: update-setting is "manually"
Does anyone have the same problem?

Just tried out the new Agama installer for OpenSUSE Leap 16, and overall, I’m impressed. The setup process is clean and modern, but I did run into a small bug in the network settings — when connecting to Wi-Fi, the toggle that determines whether the system actually uses that network is broken. Clicking it eventually kicked me out of the session completely.
