  1. Kamailio World 2025 has started! I'll do my presentation on #RoQ (RTP over #QUIC) later today, at 4.50pm Germany time. You can watch the live stream here!

  2. Just a few weeks until #fosdem, where I'll give two talks:

    1. "imquic, a QUIC library for real-time media" at the #RTC devroom, on my #quic, #roq, #moq library, and
    2. "Become an orchestra composer using FOSS!" at the #OpenMedia devroom, on my workflow to write/arrange/mix orchestral music.

My submission on KIAVC (adv. game engine) to the lightning talks was ignored for the 3rd year in a row, instead, so I guess I'll take the hint and shelf it forever 😁

    See you there?

  10. In case you want to catch up with the presentation I made at RTC.ON on #quic, #roq and #moq, the video is now available! Playing with RTP Over QUIC and Media Over QUIC was a ton of fun, can't wait to do more with this

  14. It took a while (I got a break for summer vacations 😁), but after the #quic intro and the #roq overview, I've finally written about #moq (Media Over QUIC) and my experiments getting it to talk to #webrtc. I'll talk about this at RTC.ON, see you there!

  15. The only plant I'll hopefully manage not to kill with my lack of green thumbs (natural enemies in the background notwithstanding)

  16. I just pushed a first version of my open source editor for the GiT devices. It was my first attempt to do USB reverse engineering and use libusb, so although it's currently limited (there's more I want to do), I'm already happy with what it does.

    github.com/lminiero/dnafx-edit

At the moment, I can connect to the device and download/convert/upload presets, which is what I needed. More tweaking capabilities and more control interfaces will follow in time!

  17. Considering the Windows editor for my GiT Core won't run on neither Wine nor any VM, I've spent the past few days trying to reverse engineer its USB protocol, in order to write a basic editor for Linux of my own. It's been interesting so far to play with (I can already kinda talk to the device), especially coming from the perspective of a network developer, but I have some doubts on how communication works in general: is there anyone around here that can clarify a few points?

  18. For my new "Cleopatra" EP I wanted to quickly create, in an automated way, a set of video previews I could use for Instagram/Facebook stories (yeah I know, Meta sucks, but that's where all my friends and family are, so please bear with me 😂 ). This is how I used the framework (and a few other tools) to do that in a scripted and re-usable way!

  19. I'll try to get to #fosdem2026 Sunday ☀️in Brussels to see some interesting presentations about #cardinalsynth and FOSS music recording!
For #LinuxMusicians stickers, get to the Music Production Room UA2.220 and catch me up!

  20. My on has started playing a super-annoying drip sound (it's actually called drip.ogg, I found it!) any time you hit backspace or stuff like that. I managed to disable it in terminal and Geany, but it's still there in other places (e.g., when you CTRL+F things in Firefox). Unfortunately XFCE doesn't have any setting for that: I suspect GTK is responsible here somehow. Is there any proper way to disable this without brutally nuking the sound from the file system? (which I'll do 😁 )

  21. As a side note, tomorrow I'll still be here for a workshop on RTP Over QUIC (RoQ), with practical examples using my library and the preliminary integration I talked about a few days ago. If that's something that tickles your interest, see you there!

  22. A few years ago, I stumbled upon a video by Marty Friedman, where he showed a typical pop , explaining how they're often quite inspired by . I saw the same chord progression explained in a deeper dive by Jack Lo, yesterday, so I decided to record it too. It was also an opportunity to use my new for more than just USB reverse engineering 😂

I added the chords to the video (some may have the wrong name, apologies in advance), I hope you'll enjoy this!

  23. I was just gifted a #sitar that had been sitting in a garage for years... I wonder if I'll be able to make it shine, sooner or later, considering it needs to be restringed and I have no clue where to start 😂

  24. @lminiero Thank you! Of course I was thinking that that opening trumpet trill wasn't legato enough... #perfectionists!

  25. I haven't given up on the idea yet of trying to propose a music-related at the next in 2026. I'm wondering what name could be used, though? Just "Music production" may be limiting, as that would cover, e.g., projects like Ardour or DrumGizmo, but not the likes of Faircamp, which helps musicians self-host their work. Finding the right scope (and abstract) for such a devroom might be challenging, but not impossible IMO. Any feedback/idea?

  26. Hurts to see so many friendly faces in that video stream and to have to follow it remotely ☹️
