  1. And now #Fender has sued the EU's largest music retailer #Thomann for copyright in German courts.

The "copyright protection" aspect is a partial error; a German court overstepped and issued an opinion about #Stratocaster copyright after a no-show from a Chinese company.

Thomann makes #HarleyBenton guitars as well as representing both Fender and most of its competitors, including #Yamaha .

  2. My humble attempt to play "Waiting for 22" by Queensrÿche, from that masterpiece called "Operation Mindcrime". I've always loved that luscious arpeggio and the intertwined guitars... but you don't want to know how many takes I had to record to get it (mostly) right 😁

  3. There are a few key differences from my previous efforts:

    * All guitars were recorded using my , instead of the Line6 X3 Live I've been using so far: I experimented a lot, but was this an actual improvement?
    * For the orchestra, besides VPO and KBH strings, I also used the free BBCSO VST by Spitfire Audio, to give more layers and textures: did it help, or did it make everything more confused and messy?
    * I got back to singing on a couple of tracks (but not much)

  4. I know, this is getting ridiculous...

  5. Finally finished what I started last weekend: assembling a Flying V replica kit by Harley Benton! A bit of IKEA, Lego and "little luthier" altogether, really fun. After tuning the pickups height a bit, it really rocks 💪🎸

  6. I took some time to write about my new DNAfx Git Core editor, how I added HTTP/WebSocket support to it, and how I used that to implement a dumb MIDI controller for the device. Hope you'll enjoy the read!

  7. I just pushed a first version of my open source editor for the GiT devices. It was my first attempt to do USB reverse engineering and use libusb, so although it's currently limited (there's more I want to do), I'm already happy with what it does.

At the moment, I can connect to the device and download/convert/upload presets, which is what I needed. More tweaking capabilities and more control interfaces will follow in time!

  8. Another self present for Christmas... who said git is just for developers? 😁

  9. Harley Benton 12 string electric. Good fun and excellent value. A very distinctive 60’s jangle that I need from time to time. #guitar #harleybenton #thomann #12string

  10. bought a new #bass guitar (had an old one but doesnt work anymore electronically).
I have little experience with basses, normally I play #guitar
Anyway bought this #harleyBenton active bass with splittable humbuckers, so you can get single coil sounds and humbucker.
Very pleased with it. I can make #deepPurple or #motorHead sounds with the same instrument.

  11. So, I went ahead & acquired this cute - and very cheap - little looper pedal 😊 just got it today and I can already say that it's going to be a fun & useful practice tool.

I should note that it doesn't sound like it has the advertised true bypass - it definitely changes the sound, killing some of the bottom & making it a bit tinny. Not gonna have it in my signal chain permanently.

Otherwise, though, works as advertised & I know I'm going to like having it.

  12. A little bass update - I finally upgraded my Plain Jazz Bass with this beauty, the Harley Benton MV-4PJ Gotoh SB. It’s basically a P-Bass with an additional J-style pickup that plays and sounds amazing. Of course I also chose this particular variation because it looks so wonderful. #guitar #bass #bassguitar #jazzbass #jbass #pbass #harleybenton #thomann

  13. Fret Polishing Rubber (instead of my trusted nail polish). Hello welcome, where have you been all my life? #harleybenton

  14. This weekend, I finally got around to change the strings of my favourite red guitar. The D'Addarios held up well, but they were starting to sound a little dull and they were on that guitar for over a year. Was that too long? Anyway, the guitar sounds much better now! #music #guitar #harleybenton #hb35 #strings #daddario

  15. After acquiring the Harley Benton Beatbass I got considerably better playing and I was ready for a fullscale bass. Of course Thomann had something special: the RB-414, their take on the Rickenbacker 4000 series. I wanted to buy one in Autumn 2021, but I had to wait until January 2022 until it was available again. It was worth the wait - it looks great and has an unique sound thanks to its humbucker and single-coil pickups! #guitar #bass #bassguitar #harleybenton #rb414 #rickenbacker #beatles

  16. Before I acquired the Harley Benton RB600 and RB612 guitars, I decided to try my luck with a new bass guitar - and what better to get after the somewhat disappointing Stagg than the HB Beatbass? This very decent clone of the iconic Hofner Violin Bass was perfect to properly learn to play the instrument. I still have a lot of fun with it because it sounds just like the original and is so small and handy. #guitar #bass #bassguitar #violinbass #beatbass #harleybenton #beatles

  17. I was never a big fan of Telecasters and I didn’t really want to buy another guitar last year, but then this beauty was on offer from Thomann and of course I couldn’t resist it! It turned out to be a beautiful and really well playable guitar with a sound I didn’t know I was missing until I heard it. The Roswell pickups put out a very punchy sound and the only drawback is the weight which even tops my old Stratocaster! #guitar #guitars #music #harleybenton #te52 #telecaster #solidbody

  18. This is my favourite guitar nowadays - the Harley Benton HB-35 Plus is a budget version of Gibson’s ES-335 or the Epiphone Casino. Of course I mainly got it because i was watching Marty McFly play it in Back to the Future as a kid - but until recently I never was able to afford a guitar like this. Apart from the vintage looks, it also plays wonderfully and is great for both rock’n’roll and jazz. #guitar #guitars #music #harleybenton #hb35 #gibson #epiphone #backtothefuture
