According to my calendar, today in 2010 I joined FB as Janet. That was a pretty major milestone in my social transition. I'd already been in therapy about 6 months by then. Back then, the so-called Real Life Experience (RLE) was a standard requirement if you wanted to be able to access hormones. My RLE began this month. I don't remember the exact date I first went out as myself other than to therapy.

It's foreword, not forward, when you talk about JD Vance and the part he wrote of the book in question.

So *many* "reporters" haven't. And oh, the closed captions.

What complicates the situation is that, like so many of us #netizens, Eric used a pseudonym online. I don't know his legal name, just as you don't know mine. So I have no real way to confirm the reports of his passing. I do know that he hasn't checked in online as expected after returning home. That's not a good sign.

CW: BPH, erections, dysphoria
That's one side effect I didn't expect. Last week, I started Flomax (generic) for treatment of an ongoing issue with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
I've dealt with BPH since about 2008, and it had become a lot worse over the last year or so. Finasteride wasn't helping much anymore.
As what I assumed was an effect of HRT, I also became unable to get an erection. TBH, I was okay with that.

CW: Medical complaining
Today is my 4th day since starting Flomax for BPH. The side effects are still unpleasant. Admittedly, the rhinitis has eased, but the headaches every day. They aren't migraine level, but definitely painful.

CW: Medical TMI, not trans specific
I've always thought that you should give your body some time to adjust to non-life threatening side effects of new medications.
Flomax, which I started last night, is testing my resolve as far as that belief. Headache and rhinitis this morning. Now it's already started tonight. Ugh.
I sure hope I adapt quickly. The promise of Flomax is worth some short term discomfort.

I saw my new electrophysiologist today. He looked at my AFib records and listened to my concerns about the blood thinner. He agreed with me, and took me off of the blood thinner. "It's just not justified with your numbers."

I've spent the last few days *not* wearing my compression socks. I didn't think they were doing anything for my #POTS because it was still occurring, though less frequently. This morning, I discovered that was not a good idea. I woke up to find my ankles *very* swollen. So I'm back in the socks.
Now I have to wonder if that had anything to do with last night's #migraine .

About 30 minutes ago, I was feeling some palpitations and a rather sudden headache. Triggered the ECG on my smartwatch. Result was AFib, so I also triggered an update and alerted the company monitoring my implanted loop recorder. Got to feeling better, checked again, and back to normal sinus rhythm.
Sent a message to the doctor via portal including the ECG strip just in case. Fun.

CW: Trans, Gender affirming surgery
I just got home from a surgery consult for an #orchiectomy. I like the surgeon. Once I have my letters I will be starting the process. My therapist is on vacation this week.
We've already discussed my intention, so I imagine the letters are pretty much a foregone conclusion. Then it's a matter of scheduling the pre-op appointments, and scheduling the actual surgery. 🎉

Barbara loved Jethro Tull, especially "Songs From The Wood"'. She introduced me to Ian Anderson. We actually saw him in an up close venue during one of his solo tours. I love this song.

CW: Obligatory (temporarily) health update, Medical TMI
I'd already been using Flonase for the runny nose. Later today, I'll start my at least annual regimen of Claritin, which to be fair, should probably have happened a couple of weeks ago. If it had, I might have been able to avoid this nastiness.
My only excuse is that I'm living in a new place, and didn't realize just how much the pollens around here would affect me. 🤷♀️

My respiratory issues have entered a new phase today. In addition to the runny nose and (mostly) dry cough of the last week+, my cough is now productive (green phlegm) and I've started sneezing, frequently.
I saw an urgent care doctor yesterday, and have a script for both a Z-Pak and prednisone, which I started taking yesterday afternoon.

CW: spoonie, whining, kidney pain?
If you follow my blog, you know that I am in limbo waiting on some tests to determine if I am going to have surgery for failure to completely empty my bladder. You also know I have chronic pain from #fibro and I have "fluctuating #CKD".
This morning, I woke to a dull aching pain in my back, but only where my left kidney is located. So, did I just sleep wrong? Did the bladder problem get worse?
