Thinking of the bank holiday next week, it has often been observed here in the UK that it's a long time to go between bank holidays between late August and Christmas, and that we really need one on October as well to fill the gap.
But what to celebrate?
Well, consider this. I have just learned that "World Pasta Day" is on 25 October. Exactly half way between the August bank holiday and Christmas! How amazing is that?

I watched Matt Vickers interviewed on Sky News just now, and every time I see a Tory front bencher interviewed on the telly they come across exactly like some drunken racist in the pub:
"Abolish human rights!"
"Lefty lawyers!"
"All foreign men are rapists!"And this guy thinks he's a serious politician?
Wilfrid Frost challenged him a bit, but very gently. More challenge on this appalling racism, please.
