  1. NGL, I'm exhausted to see the return of this kind of gender essentialism in the UK, wrapped in the usual "I have been thinking the unthinkable in these days when the cancel culture is in overdrive." (Verbatim from your man here)

Funny how much airtime there is for the stuff we're allegedly 'not allowed to say' these days.

  2. I was going to make a joke about #ALevels but I can't think of any clean ones.

  3. Maths and Economics are perceived as guaranteed routes to high paying jobs…so I understand their current popularity with A Level students.

But is this a sign of success for all?

‘70% of entries into A-level Economics are from males, and 23% of male Economics A-level students go on to study it at university, compared to just 16% of females.’

    According to AQA in 2022.

"The Association of School & College Leaders said the government’s emphasis on #academic goals conflicted with its measures designed to help #mainstream #schools accommodate more #children with #special #educational #needs & #disabilities (Send)." Some #disabled #kids might be able to get a whole load of #GCSEs & #ALevels - but #learning disabled ones?

  7. First a level #physics paper tomorrow. I have 10+-2 students sitting #exams and I am stuck by how worked up they are. I know if was like a quadzillion years since I did #alevels but I feel sure it's worse for them.

  8. I've been told I'm allowed to share:

    Wax#3 got

    A
    A

    So excited for him!

  9. In case anyone watching the news coverage of the A level results today is wondering whether boys do A levels too, I can confirm that my nephew is getting his A level results today.

  11. This just popped up in my Facebook 'memories' thing, so here's my annual reminder (although new to Mastodon I think?) that this is how I looked when I picked up my A-level results

This photo is taken from the local paper, for the record. So this shirt was shared with the masses. As it should be.

  12. “A-levels are far from perfect, but in the exam hall every pupil – rich or poor – is equally afraid.” No they are not. The poor from state schools are much more afraid. #ALevels

  13. Don't worry if your #Alevels didn't go as planned. Just relax and perhaps use more lube next time.
