  1. Park Royal’s Dina Foods secures Ocado deal – EALING.NEWS – The Voice of Ealing’s 7 towns

    Too many oranges!
I wish I had that problem this month. But no way you can get them to me.

After stopping buying gooseberries then cranberries over the past year, Ocado have stopped getting Seville oranges too. They have 3 different ones listed but all are always out of stock (so the listings are just hanging on from last year ...)
It's not like they got left with loads of unsold stock, because at some point in each season the item was out of stock.
Attempts to find out from customer service why they had no cranberries, fresh or frozen, during the whole of Dec was a waste of time. I dont think she even knew what they were or why I'd want to buy them in Dec.

What has been my favourite supermarket for years is dropping off my list.

  3. Got some free in my order yesterday. They were surprisingly not completely shit,

  4. I've been a loyal Ocado customer since 2003 and found their service reliable. But their latest website "improvement" is really annoying me.

I tried other online delivery supermarkets back in the late 90s and early 00s and found them mostly a bit pants, but maybe they've figured out how to do it better by now. Perhaps it's time to give them another try.

Can anyone recommend a supermarket that does deliveries in the south of England?

  5. Seems that #ocado have started using AI to add random items (based on past purchases) to baskets as part of their "smart" shop service. And there's no way to turn it off.
So, the basket gets filled with stuff that either my wife or I could plausibly have added, but neither of us know whether the other actually wanted it or not. Then there's things like two cucumbers added (because one's Ocado and one's M&S) and the 5kg of dog food that lasts us a month it's adding every week.
    FFS.

  6. Oh crap. Ocado have redesigned their website. You just know, when you see anything like that, that they'll have made it worse.

And indeed they have. No longer seems to be possible to search for a list of products, you now have to search for products one at a time.

  7. @oldrawgabbit I like the idea of boxes, but I can't see how they'd work in practice (I'd need to find somewhere to store them and #Ocado would need to sanitise them before use).
In my case I'm pretty sure that 75% of the problems are caused by the driver.
Anyway, I've just got into the habit of claiming a refund on anything that's in worse condition than I would have picked at a supermarket.

  8. New #ocado website it seems. Of course, the UI is a step backwards (an extra click required here, there and everywhere) and now they don't show all product discounts in the basket, only right at the end of the (six clicks) checkout process, so you have no idea whether your £100 shop is actually a £100 shop or a £50 shop just by looking at your basket.
And you still can't have multiple people on an account (and their systems don't let you authorise somebody else to speak to them).

  15. @jensorensen
Which reminds me. I occasionally shop at #Ocado and have never had a problem with the process... except the other day I could no longer get the 'login' button to 'stay depressed'. After spotting some 'interesting' traffic I tried (temporarily) relaxing my firewall rules wrt certain g00gle domains and, et voila, all was 'normal'.

  16. #SUPERMARKET FACTS

Every major supermarket pays at least one director over £1m annually, except #Lidl Great Britain which paid £855,000 (though a figure for its whole company group wasn’t found and may be higher).

#Asda’s owners allegedly tried to find a new CEO using the lure of a £10m pay packet. #Ocado faced criticism for seeking a £15m bonus for its CEO when it doesn’t pay employees the real #livingwage.

#Coop is the only Fair Tax Mark certified supermarket. Asda, now owned mostly by a private equity firm, is registered in the #taxhaven Jersey and parliament has expressed ‘concerns’ about its tax conduct.

  18. :lobster: Dear Friends who bought #Nothing,

Sadly, I spent the whole day sorting out my food shopping. :blobdizzy:

Well #food arrived three items short AND we were charged for them. I wrote to the CEO, got a reply and £10 voucher for a presumptuous online future purchase. My reply may have been from an executive bot designated Amy. It/she was far too polite, informing me the CEO had read my email. Wot? Really? Not convinced.

Their website is a mess of #nectar/#loyalty ‘points’ #discounts, #special offers and awful marketing tactics.

    Completely #soul-destroying.

Well that was #Sainsburys UK. Not too keen on #Morrison’s my backup as they drive all the way from #Erith to deliver. Maybe will just try a walk in #Lidl, the thing is they are nearly cashless. #Asda and #Iceland, not too happy with quality. Co-op is ethically sourced, but like #Ocado, #Waitrose and #Marks-&-Sparks, too pricey. I have another plan using our local markets or possibly #Tesco again.

Being in #Tooting, I am spoiled for choice possibilities. I suppose my #breatharian aspirations are unrealistic.

  20. Decided to shop via #Ocado I keep seeing their vans driving about and around the town. Put stuff in my cart, go to register (first time ordering) - Sorry we don't deliver to your area.

I mean, your vans drive round here regularly. Why don't you deliver. #JackieChanMindBlownJPEG
  21. Thanks #Ocado for the massive bulk discount!

  22. @Edent They're also reliable 9I think we've once had a driver break down but that's going to happen occasionally) and don't do as many stupid switches as the others seem to (but they make it clear if there are any).
Even if they were a couple of quid more than the others would be worth it ...

  23. So the Q, is: is #Amazon really considering a big to buy #Ocado?

Or are some #shareholders, frustrated at the post-Covid drop in the share prices (80% off peak) seeking to ramp the shares to allow them to get out on a profitable trade?

While an Amazon bit doesn't necessarily seem implausible, neither is a conspiracy of gossip to held shareholders cash out.....

But if you were thinking of buying don't forget the old adage: if you don't know who the fool is in the market, then its likely you!

Thanks ! I was hitherto unaware that I needed special meat for making cakes!
